just got done takin the head off this laser rs i just got for 100 bucks .. well theres a lot of water in the oil it looks like sludge .. i drained all that out .. and took off the head.

there was a valve that was missing a chip off of it .. was wonderin how that could have happened? the cylinders looked fine

now i found some of that sludgy stuff in the turbo it came oout the outlet of the turbo when i had it sittin upside down .. is there a seal that goes bad in there?

fiinally the oil pump mark didnt line up with the rest of the timing marks .. is that bad? how important is it for the oil pump marks to match?

Yes.

Depends on if the car has balance shafts or not. If it does, it's as important as the cam gears lining up. It's prolly 180 deg. out of phase with the rest of the other timing marks. Means balance shaft is 180 deg. out of phase. If not, then timing belt is junk, which means the head prolly is too.

If the valves were burnt up pretty bad it probably chipped off and went out the exhaust, or it could be a valve that grazed a piston if the belt ever broke and finally broke off , and yes you have a bad seal in the turbo, they are almost like a rubber o ring and they get brittle over time.

How hard is it to change out the seal in the turbo ?

and yes the motor does have balance shafts the timing belt looked brand new and all the other timing marks were fine .. soo would it screw stuff up if i put the oil pump to the timing mark and say it is 180 out ?

rebuilding the turbo is easy its just that when you put the compresser wheel back on it has to be in the exact location it came off from, actually it should be done by a shop that can balance it.
