hey guys, i recently got pissed off at some stupid pricks, becuase they were riding down the two lane side by side going like 15mph. anyway
i started revving the ihst out of my car and i think i hit redline and a little past. so i get home and pop the hood worried that i f'd something up and it sounds like a freaking sewing machine. is something messed up?

all it is is when i let the car idle and stand over the engine bay it sounds like a sewing machine. thats the only way i can explain it, might it be the valves, but i run 93 octane shell gasoline, or does that not matter.

oh by the way nice car, i wish i had one, people cant understand why i would want a n older car, guess cuase they have no idea about how fast they are (91-94 gst).

You're probably fine, revivng to redline isn't bad, unless you like floored it for a long long time or something dumb like that.

Have you ever listened to the car idling with the hood open before? It may have always sounded like that.

New exhaust leak? Not exactly a sewing machine sound but lots of tapping and periodic.

Valve-tapping? Maybe a valve hit and now you've got pistons smacking into things. Or maybe your timing belt slipped a tooth, leading to slight valve tap.

Dunno what else... broken lash adjuster?

Could this really happen?? The T-Belt would have to be really loose, and if it slipped a tooth, that would throw timing off like 5 or 6 degrees, and probly sound a lot different.

CHeck to see where the noise is coming from...lifter tick and injector tick are the most common noise heard.

Just want to throw a wrench into the works, but don't panic. My assumed lifter tick turned out to be rod bearings. Not correcting that lead to the motor seizing up.

I'm not trying to scare you, but if you put the lifter or injector cleaner in and the problem is not fixed, don't let it go on too long. Get some one to look at it.
