how do i get at the power stearing belt on a eclipse 98 n/a 2.0 ? through the bottom? i see it but damn, theres like no room. i need to replace it fast and i have the belt. thanks.

help

You'll have to loosen the nut first, then back out the adjustment bolt quite a bit in order to get the belt off of the tensioner pulley. It will be easier to remove the belt from the tensioner pulley than it will the crank, power steering pump, or a/c compressor. Also, on the reinstall you will want to put the belt on the other pullies first and lastly on to tensioner pulley. You may need to lay under the car to get it on the crank and a/c compressor as well as work with it from up top.

hey, u talk like theres one belt... the guy at the parts store said there a ac, ps, and altenator belt, 3 seperate belts? did he sell me the wrong belt? would be the first time they've looked up the wrong parts even though i always give them the correct engine and car make/ model...

so is there 1 belt or 3?

Well, looking back at your original post you only asked about "getting at the power steering belt". So I only gave info on what you needed to do to replace it. All in all there are three belts total on the 420A. Two accesory drive belts and one timing belt. The two accessory belts are serpintine type belts. Multiple ribs in them like a true serpintine belt. There are no V-belts on the 2gnt. The timing belt is a totally different type of belt all together.

ya your right, i did only ask about one. i think they sold me the wrong belts cause i figured at $9 a belt i'd do em all while i was in ther, so they sold me 3 belts.... all the same type/

Same design type (ribbed vs v-belt) or exact same belt? That does kinda suck. Good luck with getting the right belts. If you need pics and help on the altenator belt replacement I'll see what I can scrounge up for ya.

thanks to your good pictures, i see the bolts, but it looks like theres only 1 belt that goes around the ac/ps/alt. do you have or know where i cant see a belt diagram for the 2.0 eclipse ?
