Starter problem

From time to time (intermittent problem) my starter will not turn over? Not sure if this is related to the colder weather (im guessing not??). It does make a clicking sound. I have tried bypassing the switch and running direct power to the starter and it has worked. Where should I look first? Starter relay? Ignition switch? Which is most likely? Thanks for any and all help!

If it just clicks, it may be the silinoid. Your starter may have died. Make sure there is a good connection on all hot wires in your engine bay (i.e. alternator, start, battery)

if it does it every now and then the brushes in the alternator are probably getting stuck . if its a starter its probably going to get worse. so you might want to change it soon.

It has not done it in awhile. The alternator was just replaced. Could it be a faulty relay? What would cause this intermittent problem? Could it be as simple as a corroded connection? Thanks guys!
