I have a 1995 Talon TSi. I just put the car together. I had a problem with the car not getting over 3000 rpms.Unless I was sitting still. The car ideled very bad.I thought that it could be bad gas. A lot of people that I talked to said it is the fuel filter. Well the day that I was going to change the filter my car would not start. I changed the fuel filter ,drained the gas tank and tried to start the car. The car would not start. When you turn the key about the first second it shakes and sounds like the engine is going to fire. Then theres is nothing the engine just turns over. I pulled that spark plugs out and there is gas all over the end of the plug. If i dry the plugs off and they to start the car again the engine will again, shake and sound like it is going to start the nothing. I know the car is firing because i took the plug out of the coil and there was spark. I am in the dark this is the first import car that I have ever had. I have also put new plug wires on the car.:barf:

If you are getting fuel & spark, you still need air.
If you are getting fuel spark & air, the timing may be off, if not, check the ECU for error codes.

How Do I check the ecu codes for an error?

my car did the exact same thing. I am 100 percent positive it is your timing. Just pull off the cover make sure everything is good and dont forget to check the crank also becuase everything else will look good and that is your problem. Take it to a shop and it will take them like and hour or you could just buy a manual and do it yourself

To check for ECU error codes, go to the FAQ webpage, indexed under ECU, theres a link somewhere in the text that takes you to a weppage that describes how to easy-make & use a simple code reader & what the codes mean.
If you have access to a pocketlogger or other data-logger that's even better. While not essential to read error codes, these devices are a very wise investment. You might query your local DSM group & see if someone has 1 you could borrow.
