starting issues

I recently bought a 1990 gsx and cannot get it to start. it will start (and run) if i can catch it in gear but the engine will not turn over with the key. I have replaced plugs, wires, ecu, crank shaft sensor, checked all the fuel components and cannot find the issue. anyone ever ran into this issue before? The car overheated, had it towed and thats when the starting issues began. It still overheats when i push start it but getting it to start normally needs to happen before I can figure out why the overheating is occuring.

Check starter relay, starter solenoid, Maby an alarm code anti theft, nurtrial safety switch. Just some ideas. Have you tried tapping on the starter with a hammer (not very hard).

Not trying to be a jerk when I say this, but none of the stuff you replaced has any bearing on your issue. If the motor isn't turning over, there is either a problem with the starter, the circuit that controls it, or a problem with it engaging the engine(ie. broken flexplate or flywheel).

Also, notice that you say you had it towed and that's when the starting issues occurred, you did use a flatbed right? Towing an awd by 2 wheels can and likely will destroy your drivetrain.
Lastly, need more info, is it an auto or manual, when you turn the key, does anything at all happen, or nothing? If nothing happens you have a problem with your control circuit, if you hear rapid clicking, that usually indicates a dead battery, if you hear what sounds like an electric motor spinning with nothing attached, then bad things...

definitely need more information... I would question the starter...and it's accompanying circuits first from what you've said so far.
