About 4-5 years ago I had my last Galant painted satin black and it turned out great. I ended up selling it only a few months later to get something more reliable to get to California.. Well that leads me to today, I picked up another VR4 and although the car was pretty much mechanically perfect it had a black front bumper, paint flaking on the fender and hood and a lighter green trunk and gas door... I did miss that black Galant from back in the day..

So memorial day weekend I pulled the trigger I had my buddy Luis come up from Mundelein and we painted it Satin Black. He painted my last car so I felt comfortable putting this task in his hands. I helped prep and mask the car but other than that he did all of the work.

I documented the event on my iPhone so the pictures arent perfect but better than nothing, I will have pics of the car all finished up asap, it started raining after I pulled all of the tape and paper off

The initial prepping and "DA"ing.

Prepping the front bumper. It was silver in Japan then painted white by the first owner, then rattle canned black by the owner before me.

nice looking car. I do a little painting myself so I'm eager to see the finished product.

Yeah, I think everyone that watched your slide show wants to see the final outcome. Bet it looks pretty good though.

Finally found some time today to take some pics of it all done. I need wheels bad.. anyone have any?

Nice work bro, the car came out real nice. What type of rims you looking to put on ?

Im not sure yet. Something cheap..LOL I like simple wheels like slipstreams or some kind of kosei's. Something bronze most likely.

I love the way the galant looks in satin black! These might not bee the look your going for but they were cheap for my set up "FD RX-7 wheels, sandblasted and then primered and painted with duplicolor graphite grey".

I like that 1g talon, needs a drop though, or an up sizing on the wheels.

It's a Laser but thanks. And yes i know it sits HIGH, lots of weight reduction with stock suspension for now. I even had someone ask me if it has a lift on it. WTF

Sorry I'm retarded, I thought it looked abnormally high...:hellyeah:

Amazing Galant!
By seeing this I am thinking about painting my Galant VR4 after rebuild.
Right now im rebuilding the motor.

Beautiful car!

That seals the deal for me - my Laser is getting sprayed with satin. Looks great man.

I don't have the weight reduction on my Laser, but I have been asked if mine was lifted too.....they said for rally and stuff.....riiiiiight. Its because of the bumpers and skirts they used on our cars - Plymouth was going for the "euro" look. More like waiting for a flood look.

Hilarious and soooo true.
But even my '93 talon i had was lowered with Eibach prokit but with all of the weight mods it sat higher than stock height.

The GVR4 would look amazing on evo rims :thumb:. Get on Evolutionm.net and try to pick up a used set for cheaper than some new slipstreams. The Black looks amazing good work
