As some of you may know, I've been getting some pretty good numbers from the Evo3 16G. The final numbers were 430hp, 417tq on the English Racing dyno.

Yesterday, the 16G gave up the ghost. It locked up on me. Today, Aaron was checking it out, he broke the shaft nut loose with his fingers! WTF?? The compressor was spinning freely from the shaft at this point. We didnt dig any deeper into it. There were about 1300 miles on it. I knew it wasnt going to last long, but 1300 miles, seriously? :ohdamn:

I remember being at frostone's place and he fought like mad with that same nut... too bad Aaron wasnt around. LOL

So... the Evo3 16G is going back to Forced Performance. I plan on selling the one I get in return to a buddy, and hopefully this week I can get the DSM76 ordered up with all the goodies. FP's DSM76 is their 3052 with the HTA wheel. Theyre rated to flow 57lbs/min and spool a little better than the 3052.

It'll be nice to drive around with the pissed off 16G power on pump gas and not have to plan special Sunday outings for trips to the E85 pump... 70 miles round trip. Besides, the motor will like it a lot more, too; no more crazy spikes.

I cant wait :thumb:

There were a couple small cips in the compressor blade. I wouldnt think thats what caused it, though. Once Aaron freed it, the nut backed right off.

We didnt play with it much after that nut backed off. The wheel was spinning freely and independently from the shaft. There was plenty of oil that came out of the lines/turbo when I pulled it.

The 430/417 was on E85. It made 350/350 on 92 octane which is pretty good as well.

Lucas tuned the car, but Ive Jeff, Lucas, Aaron, and TJ all had their hand in my build. No meth injector.

The car went 12.0 at 117 in the 1/4. I was hoping for 11s with the turbo, but I guess thats not happening! My launches were pretty shotty.

FP is tough to get ahold of! Left a message about the 16G yesterday, no return yet. Left a message earlier today for the DSM76 and called a handful of times before and after, no return! :hmm:

EDIT: They just called me back. Order placed!

nice setup!
my goals are 11s for my 16g.

We'll see how that pans out after Link is installed and a few more power mods :D

Can't wait to hear what you put down with the new turbo!
keep us posted!

Yeah Jeff, at least I'll have a turbo worthy of feeding the built motor. I knew this was coming, which is why I didnt go with a 2g piston/1g rod build.

Im getting pretty anxious.

Zak, 11s shouldnt be too tough, I was close and my setup is a bit heavier than what you have.

If you end up with good #s from the dsm76 I may end up sending mine in for the upgrade. I have really been thinking about doing the FP HTA 3082R. I also been looking at the JMF topmount manifold for our cars. FP HTA 3076r with a .82ar exhaust housing. That set up would spool nice and fast + have great top end.

Did you dyno yet? What do you figure the car is at for power? It doesnt sound there are many FP DSM76s out there, its been kind of tough to see what this setup is capable of. I have an idea since there are plenty of 3076s out there.

Whats the advantage of the top mount manifold? Im sticking with the ported 2g for now.

The car is running now with the new turbo. With all the changes its been thorugh since the previous tune, it needs some time spent with it. We played with the tune a little bit and its running very safe right now. At 14psi the car feels really, really solid. Im shocked how well this turbo spools. It feels just as quick as the E316G did at much higher boost levels (350hp/350tq). The atmospheric dump sounds nasty, too. :)

Hopefully this week I can bring it in for some speed density tuning and crank the boost up, the turbo is rated to support 40psi, but we'll see how it goes.

We played on the dyno a little today. With Bluemax 1250s and a stock 2g MAF, we got 530hp at 32psi and we were running out of fuel. We still have work to do and get it set up on speed density. I have never driven anything this quick before, what a trip. Its currently at 513hp and 30psi. It was over 100 degrees today, too, which didnt help the numbers at all.

4thStroke: I dropped my GSX off Friday at English and saw the VR4 sitting out front but didn't put two and two together. Haha. When I spoke with Jeff he was actually telling me about it and then I'm reading back through this thread thinking, oh wait - this is his car! Haha. Your VR4 looks good man, can't wait to get mine back from English too!

I plan on geeting some FIC BM 1650s eventually, I just need to learn how to control my spending habits for now... this is getting rediculous.

mxboost, thanks for the compliment! The top surfaces have a failing clear coat and the hood has some rust, other than that, its not too bad, but still needs some work. Its a fun car, thats for sure. I remember seeing your GSX now that you mention it. It was clean!

I'll take the 1250's off your hand when you do I needz more boost and I'm out of fuel also...

So... I broke the tranny friday night. Just figured Id add to the mix!

That was an English built tranny.

3,000 miles or so on it. Double synchro 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. Welded center diff.

500+awhp daily drivers suck. :hmm:
