1G-specific timing belt problems got my confused as hell

ok i did a complete timing belt service. just for the fact of my balance shaft belt broke an wedged the balance shft belt next to the crank so it bent the sheet medal plate behind the crank sprocket. bent the plate back somewhat straight. put new balance shaft tensioner on along with a new timing belt tensioner too. aligned the marks a put it all back together an fired it up an now i got vibrations on the lower end.now my question is when the balance shaft belt when did the balance shaft break inside or what.### if i start it up an back it out the driveway an start taking off i automatically start to get vibrations.so do i buy the balance shaft elimination kit or is something else at fault????

How come you didn't post this in the Newbie section? Your problem is that you did not 'phase' your oil pump balance shaft when you redid your timing. I take it that you see vibrations between 2-3000 rpm. If so, then you need to remove the timing belt at TDC. Remove the balance shaft belt and then locate the arrow on the oil pump gear. Spin the oil pump gear until the arrow is at 12 o'clock and just let go of the gear. The gear should fall either CCW or CW. If it falls CW, then it is out of phase and you need to spin it 360* and try again. Once you hold it to 12 o'clock and let it go, it should fall to 9 o'clock (CCW) once it is properly 'in phase'.

No you don't phase the front balance shaft, you just ensure the timing mark lines up. I wouldn't worry about the shaft itself, chances are it was not damaged. I would replace the balance shaft belt & pulley along with your standard timing components.

You can also stick a screw driver in the back side of the block just above the bracket that the drivers CV axles bolts to the block. There is a bolt that is on a flat machined surface, as if it doesnt belong there or if something was missing. If you stick the screw driver in, and it hits it, it should be spund 360 degrees. If the screw driver goes in about 6" the oil pump sprocket is in phase.

You can also hit me up, I have a complete balance shaft elimination kit I'll sell you for what I'm into it and I'll even elminate them for you, just PM me for more details.

You'll never have to deal with the BS belt, BS's or timing of the BS's ever again.
I love it.
Timing belt changes are a breeze.

Here is the Vfaq on it:
Timing Belt VFAQ (Timing Belt TSB - ENHANCED)

number 24.
Figure 12 and 12c

The other was is easier, but its another way to check your work if you are still unsure.

ok i found out what went wrong when i drove it the other night it ran fine but on the way home it ran like crap. so me an a buddy took it apart an found that the crank got some slack an moved 3 teeth over.which made all the vibrations so now its fixed an no more vibrations. yaya!!!!!! but thanks to every one that help me figure out possible ways on what happened so thanks again even though it was a different part of the timing i had to fix that solved the problem. so thanxs again to everyone
