I picked up DSmlink V3 for my Galant vr4 and I am going at it in the dark. I have read the wiki thoroughly in and out and alot of forum reading. I was just wondering if there was anyone in the Norcal area that could give me a hand and show me some basics and get a decent tune going on the car. I live about 35 mins north of Sacramento but I am willing to drive all the way to the bay for some help and pay you for your time. I also have a LM1 wideband just need to get it set up right in V3 to log right. I figured there has to be a fellow DSM'er to lend a helping hand.

Great to hear your trying to get a good grasp of a decent tune! I grew up in Marysville (actually Linda), i don't have DsmLink, but i do my own tuning with ECU+ (cheaper than DsmLink) on my 2G GST. Have you installed the DsmLsink yet? Have you done a tune up lately? Best to make sure theres no leaks-vaccum, oil, power steering, etc. I also suggest if you haven't got at least a 3-bar map sensor (monitor proper boost levels) look into getting one. Then you will want to find a flat road thats safe to do multiple 3rd gear pulls on. Do some small pulls and make sure all your O2, knock, timing and everything works and looks to be within parameters. Next, do some base line pulls, at least three good pulls in 3rd, WIDE OPEN THROTTLE from 2500rpm all the way to redline. Then go over them, let the fans cycle and cool down the temps. I can't read your logs, but if you post the numbers and values that would help alot. Good Luck, im just an hour north of you....if you want.. roll up to chico sometime and we'll meet and look over it! PEACE

I actually didn't grow up here just stationed here at Beale Air Force base. I have been here for three years though. I have messed around with pocketloggers, MAFT's, SAFC's alot. I actually just put the car together and got it on the road everything has been tuned up. I have no leaks or boost leaks. All the sensors are working properly minus the coolant temp (the wire broke haven't had the patience to find it and fix it yet) but I have a autometer digital temp gauge right now so no biggie. I have a 3 bar already in the car for the digital boost gauge so I just need to figure out how to wire it in to the ecu and log with link. I just need some one to help walk me through the program some and take my training wheels off :thumb:

get that coolant temp sensor fixed first.

From there BLT, make sure the car is tuned up and everything is running perfect

After that i would dial in fuel trims as indicated in the owners manual.

THEN you can start tuning. IF you dont feel comfortable, bring it into full function in union city and sean will take care of you.
If you want to tune yourself, and you are running pump gas, load the 2g timing and fuel maps into your ecu and start around 15psi or lower depending on what size injectors you are running. Get your a/f dialed in and then add/remove timing as necessary per knock.
High octane is your friend in preventing knock, ive had good luck dumping in a bottle of the nos brand octane booster to get a little more out of the pump gas. If you have any questions feel free to PM me.

I totally agree with getting the coolant temp fixed. There's a good web page that prob can help you understand a little more about tuning on 91 pump gas (1992 Talon Tsi AWD Project). Great page with lots of info on DsmLink tuning, and tuning in general. Glad to hear your on the road, just make sure you don't knock to crazy. Just shoot for a consistent AFR for the boost you plan on running (over 10.5 AFR is pretty lean for 91 pump gas, you'll knock a lot... mine is around 10.1-10.5 AFR). Then when you get your AFR at what you think is safe, start eliminating any signs of knock- either ADD a little fuel or take a degree of timing out...i just try to make consistent pulls with consistent AFR. Putting a lil NOS Octane in is good... AFTER you tune for 91 octane!! I wouldn't tune on any octane adders, just straight 91 pump gas!!! Then add some NOS Octane booster for any hard Auto Cross days or drag racing, or road races. I think if you add one whole bottle of NOS octane booster to 15 gallons of 91 octane, you'll end up with a soild 93 octane. Which is awesome:)... compared to crappy 91 we get at the pump. Good Luck. If you get stuck, post up some pulls and i'll try and help as much as possible.
PEACE

Or if you wanna keep knock to a minimal with increased timing and boost......get meth injection
