interested in starting to add performance mods to my 95 Eclipse GS

So i am interested in starting to add performance mods to my 95 Eclipse GS. Although it is a Non Turbo i have heard that with CA's emission standards that if i did add a turbo bolt on that it wouldn't be able to pass smog? Would love some fellow DSM enthusiasts to give their outlook on this. I plan on keeping my car but i would love to start adding performance mods. What can i do?

I'll give you my outlook on this...

Dont mod a NT, if you are going to keep it, keep it stock so you get good gas mileage. If you want to mod something, get a turbo dsm and really have fun, dollar for dollar you will get more bang for your buck if you mod a turbo car, you would have to spend thousands of dollars initially to get the NT to perform the same as a stock turbo dsm, where if you put that money into a turbo dsm then you would be running really fast already.

Mod a turbo, keep an NT stock, thats my 2 cents.
