Anyone Willing to meet up with me and help me diagnose my cars problems? Santa Rosa

Willing to meet up with me and help me diagnose my cars problems?

I live in Santa Rosa and I'm willing to drive a little. Not excessively..

I just got my eclipse and don't know anything. I need to check out a bunch of things on my car. I'm not getting far with a haynes manual. Oh.. I'm asking here because I just spent all my money getting the car itself. So I can't afford taking it to a shop. Would appreciate if a experienced dsm member showed me the ropes.

First of all, its running really rich. It also makes a lot of different noises. I think steering fluid pump is failing? I'm not sure on that one. Also a few more noises and at last the car sometimes dies.

The first thing I would try if it is running really rich is to check the o2 sensor and the plugs. See if the plugs are black, that will tell you for sure if it is rich or not. And with an n/a car, I would suspect the o2 sensor to be going out

also, if your PS pump is whining, it could just be really low on fluid, check the fluid and top of if needed.

YOu should post a detailed post in the "problem diagnosis" thread, people on here are great at doing online diagnosis'.

I checked on the ps fluid. It seems to be fine. Also... I will check the plugs sometime. I just put some brand new NGKs less then 500 miles ago. Plugs before that were completely rusted out. I will make a post in that section sometime as well. Some of the problems I am not sure how to describe in words. Like the sounds them selfs. Anyways... thats why I would rather meet with someone who knows a lot about eclipses. So they can perhaps give me a hand.

uh i hope you didnt pay much for your car. that clicking noise is probably crankwalk, somehting that happens in about 30% of 2g eclipse. just like my own. to fix this i wouldn't look at these articles, one good fix is at overbore.com, where he fixes the main problem about 750$. the prob is the way the crank bearing are lubercated. look at magnus tech articles if you want the real answer

Ticking sounds does not automatically mean Crankwalk. Failing lifters can also tick and get louder as the problem gets worse (this was my problem about 7 months ago). The picture in your avatar shows a spyder with a FMIC. Is the car a GS or a GST?

i think i read in another thread that its a NT that was at one time turbo'd. IF thats that case and you bought it after the previous owner had it turbo'd, then it could have some serious engine problems. The owner could have messed something up in the engine really bad and then put it back to stock and sold it quick to get out of a bigger problem.

Originally, thats what I thought was the problem. But it seems like perhaps the ticking went away (don't even know how that would happen). I don't know. I have not run the car in awhile. I would rather not. I will listen carefully next time I started it up. Just sell it off and get me a GSX or GST As far as the model, it is a spyder gs non turbo. I took the FMIC off of it.

I would like to take my engine apart and check it out, but since I don't know a whole lot about engine internals... I think I would rather not mess with it. But it could be a possibility. He beat the crap out of it and just sold it off.
