Most of the work has been performed by myself and the guys over at Full Function. The car was initially tuned by Sean for me to drive daily. The car was doing 352awhp on 91 pump gas at 23psi.
A while ago I was preparing the car for BOTI and I tuned it to 408awhp at 28psi on 118 leaded. I wasnt able to run the car due to a last minute coolant leak.
Now to this week. I had to get a few things done before the car could run at the track. First was a new hood and hood pins. Second, I had to have my seat brackets welded solid, no wiggly seats at the track. Third, I needed to adjust the suspension for the strip.
I had the car tuned at FFTEC on thursday night, making 444awhp and 389ft-lb torque.
http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1353/1345194337_b154bafd66_b.jpg. This was done again on ERC 118octane leaded gas and 34psi. Oh..and this is open dp too.
The next day I get to the shop and they have my exhaust back on and the pass seat out ready to go to the track. We load up the gas, tools, and extra fluids and plugs into the truck and swap my map back to pump gas and drove the car up to the track.
We get there around 5pm and I'm the first street car there. They didn't even bother tech-ing me. After emptying the pump gas and getting race gas back in and swapping the map, I'm ready to race.
At this point I haven't driven the car at the 444awhp map yet, so I have a lot to learn. The first run I walk it out of the hole just to get a feel for the power..12.6@116mph. Sweet...car is running well. After a few more runs we start to dial in the 2-step. We finally got it to 6000rpm and the tires at 26psi. Boy did the car grip. I eventually did a 11.1@127mph. The best 60' of the night was a 1.682 on my street tires and an act2900 and street disk. Boy was I getting close to the 10's.
The last few runs the car was coming out of the hole really well, almost sending me sideways once. The problem was all of a sudden I couldn't get that 1-2 shift. The last run of the night I threw the car into second, and the shifter went all wiggly. The car is stuck in second and I get it back to the pits. Check under the hood...phew..the shift cable just came off the linkage. At this point it is 9:30 and time to put the exhaust back on and get outa there.
So much for 10's...next time I guess. But I'm pretty happy for my first time out at the track. 11.1 @127...so close. Test & Tune is the best, I recommend it to anyone. $50 and I got over 10 runs in. That is only because I let the car cool about 20 mintues between runs. My buddy in his STi did over 30 runs.
I want to thank the guys from Full Function for doing great work on the car and thanks to Mike & Pat of FFTEC for going with me to the track and basically being my pit crew. The car is running flawlessly...130 miles to the track...multiple passes...and 130 miles back. No issues.
Next is CMI on Sept 30...but I'll start another thread for that.
