So lately I have noticed that I have way too many DSM parts both OEM and aftermarket laying around. I know a bunch of people have parts laying around collecting dust as well. And DSMers are ALWAYS looking to buy more stuff. Sooo....why not do a Bay Area DSM Swap Meet. Nothing extravagant, just a parking lot where we could meet and swap/sell our stuff. If you guys think this is a good idea, post a response, and we can figure out a time and location to do this.

hahaha....pick n pull at brandon's. but if you guys would like to see this happen, lets do this. i need to offload a bunch of stuff

Oki so most of us are down for the idea.
Now... where can this happen? when?

well it'll take a trip up from san luis obispo for me, but we can figure something out. reason i want it this weekend or the next (9-15/16) is beacuase i start back at cal poly on the 17th.

once we settle a date i have a good idea for a place, already started talking to my friend about it, we'll make it into a mini meet.

FYI...i'm going to the track tomorrow. if anyone wants to meet me up in sac..i'm doing test&tune at sacramento raceway 6-10pm. wish me luck on my street tires

Maybe we should post up a list of important stuff we have... I know I have boxes and boxes of shit, and don't really want to bring ALL of it.

Maybe we should post up a list of important stuff we have...

No. We don't want a laundry list posted here, nor do we want chit-chat about who's done what, nor will we allow a "Want To Swap/Have To Swap" thread. Put those in the Classifieds.

Use this forum to set up and arrange a swap meet, not to babble about "I have" "I want" "That's cheap" "I already have, but would....." junk.

I still don't understand this rule.

If we want to sell and buy to and from people within in the NorCal DSM community, posting a classified ad is a waste of time. I understand that you guys want to keep stuff organized, and this makes sense in a place like the Hangout, which has a worldwide audience. But, seeing as how this is a NorCal DSM discussion, we should be able to discuss anything NorCal DSM specific, including parts to buy and sell.

Again, the key phrase here is "NorCal DSM specific". We're not advertising these parts for the whole world; we'd use the Classifieds for that.

All my used setups and major parts come from people I have met through this forum locally, not through the Classifieds.

Neither did we post costs or anything like that. The only thing we did is try to set up an event and get an idea of what people needed so everyone doesn't have to lug a truck-load of parts to the meet. I just hate how I come back and w/o any notice, a bunch of threads have been deleted.

But whatever, the tentative date for this is this weekend at Full Function Tech in Union City.

We will be doing this with the NorCalevo.net guys. It will be a Swap Meet, Meet & Greet, as well as just a kick-it.

The whole point of this being in the nor-cal section is because I am not willing to ship anything and I want to help out the locals. Defiant you are out of line to delete the posts you deleted.

Let's say about 10ish...i'll get a confirmed time tomorrow. I believe this will be a DSM & EVO event.

Just contact me if you need something for a DSM, I won't be able to make it this weekend cause I'm headed down south. I will try to bring back 5 gal of E85, if you have a gas can and want some bring it by Berkeley today and I will fill it up this weekend.

We used to have a very nice, very casual For Sale section here. It was a hoot, honestly. All kinds of bickering online about how much something was worth, or "I have it cheaper" or just joking and derailing. It really was cool, and if you needed anything, you'd find it in a week. In the days before the clones, I scored a B&M shifter for the (then) bargain of $100.

Then, somehow, we got found. Thieves. More than a couple, and for more than a few bucks. DSMTrader had to close because it got so bad. It's probably the single greatest contributing factor to this site's fading from a fun-and-games high point on the entire internaweb, and why we had to get brittle rules.

For local sales, you'd want to have a local forum. Hardly any survive, much like trying to arrange meets in the Bay Area. Starting one is a great idea, keeping one going has apparently been an insurmountable challenge.

You can't have a "local" discussion here, because the site's worldwide. If you start swapping bits and pieces, so will everyone else, and consequently the rules are in place and must be as closely monitored as is practical. Because when we let trading go public, the thieves find us.

If you think it's out of line, take it up with Ludachris. This isn't my site, and they aren't my rules.

You missed the point entirely, Guy. The issue of thieves is a moot point when we're trading with local people that we know.

I'll PM Chris again, thanks.

plus, if you give someone local a large chunk of money, you aren't forced to sit on your hands and hope he returns your calls one day, since you can just go kick his ass whenever you want.
