Just to let all you nor-cal dsmers know, next wednesday, march 1st kicks off the wed night drag season. I know ive been lookin forward to it for a while now and ive requested the day off of work so i think im going to go. (as long as the talon stays running) Ive been trying to get a few cars to go with me and hopefully there will be a good turnout of cars, however most of my friends with dsm's are down right now so i might be rollin on the lonesome.

if you dont know how things work up there then its $15 with a high school id, or $20 if you are older, spectators are $10, and they check your trunk or hatch if you are tinted so no trying to sneak anyone in! haha... Get there at about 3:00 and you will for sure get 2 practice runs in before eliminations start at 5:30.

Good luck to all that are going. Ive got a couple personal goals for me and my car. Hopefully ill be running 14.0 -14.5 all day, and i want nothing slower than a 1.99 60 foot, i had a couple 1.8's last time and a couple bogs, but with the studder box and suspension i dont think that'll happen anymore ;) .

Anyways to wrap this up here is a list of people going so far, add yourself accodringly:
(and then take yourself off tuesday night when everyone on the list blows their motor or tranny as always with the bay area meets) haha!

1. T9S1i - Danny

1. T9S1i - Danny
2. tstkl - brian (assuming I stop creeping to 22+psi, and get my clutch broken in by then, its new and this isn't my dd)

What's up Danny? My GSX is just coming together. I'll try to make it out sometime this season. Ask Pole and them if they wanna go... how fast is his green goblin lately?

How far is Infineon from San Jose? Also is this a better track to run on then SAC Raceway?
I just want to hit 12.9 with my DSMLink/50trim and ill be happy. I've been practicing on the street with my stutterbox/antilag and i do a 4 wheel burn out with a car and half tire marks! I just want a damn timeslip to prove that it's not all show. I can't gaurantee of me going, but I definitely want to one of these nights, with you guys or by myself, whenever the right time just comes up.

It is about an hour from San Ramon, which is 30 minutes north of San Jose. This is assuming you take 680, im not sure of another way. This is a better track regarding track prep. A lot of people say that Infineon tends to slope upwards towards the end of the track, and people do seem to run better times at sac. You usually get more runs at sac as well.

hey mahesh! how have ya been man? im not sure whats up with pole... im gonna hafta hit him up and invite him. I called him the other day just to chop it up but i forgot to mention the track. usually he hates on infineon too much but if his schedule permits it and he's itchin to get some timeslips he'll probably roll. i know both the alex's have no prob with infineon and if they go they'll probably bring a camera! i think on 100 octane the green goblin is solid to low 12's for sure... im not very sure about the shop car though... that thing will be a monster when its ready by the looks of its engine bay. You should try to go though man i wanna see some dsms there with me! Im just going to get some baseline runs for the season before the parts start to pour into my car and im in desperate need of a tune so my car is by no means in tip top running shape. (hey its a dsm...)

On that note... RedTurboEclipse you should go too and if you aren't too newb with ## dsmlink (like i am) you can help me with a couple of inbetween run tunes! Im really just waiting on my wideband before i get too agressive with the dsmlink tunes. (as a matter of fact im gonna order my plx m-300 tonight) anyways i hope for a good turnout i know im going for sure though! To answer your question about infineon's location and condition you have to go over the golden gat bridge (well coming from san fran i do) and go all the way to highway 37 and its literally right off of 37. You cant miss it. As for the condition most people that race infineon and then sac claim to drop like .2 off their timeslips by going from infineon to sac (sac being the better kept track) but i cant vouch for this because ive never raced at sac b4...

Where are the rest of the bay area dsm's at?!?

well it looks like it will be raining this next week. I just checked weather.com for sonoma and it said it'll be raining all week except for wed! hopefully its correct... Anyways ill try to call infineon wednesday morning and see if they will be running or not. Ill post up the reply as soon as i find out. Everyone stop doing their indian rain dances and start your sun dances!

Compared to Sac this track sucks big nuts. The facilities at SEARS POINT are nicer but the track prep leaves much to be desired. Plus on wed. you always get these idiot honda owners doing burnouts on street tires which ruins any track prep they did decide to do. Your best bet if your going to the track is to go to Sac on a test and tune day during the day or night session. Its almost always only maybe a handful of "street" cars all of which are usually on slicks and then they have the real drag cars out there. They do excellent track prep and you get plenty of runs in. The last time I went to sac for a test and tune I got in 8 runs and I let the car cool down between runs.

zach, we know infineon sucks... but its the closest track... and yes there is a lot of dumb hondas there, but i need to get some times in.
Im not tryin to start funk but do you think after praising sac you could give some details like when test n tune nights/days are, what time, and generally how things work. Im mostly asking for myself as ive never been there and would really like to go sometime, but i just dont know the details or the website where i can get details.
thanks

p.s. many times ive gotten 7 runs at infineon and have been there when they close down the track... Get there early, put an educated ET on your window and drive consistantly!!!

3. burntheblobs - Andy (after my front engine seals are done and boost leak gone)

My friend has a black GS-T and is thinking about coming up with me too.

so i called today. The lady told me that they were still indifferent as to if they are going to run or not tomorrow. She said she had been checking the weather constantly and its giving here mixed signals. Lets just see if it really is "partly cloudy". Ill give her a call tomorrow and post up what i find out...
My battery got drained in the paint shop b/c some idiot didnt know how to take the key all the way out :notgood: so i put a trickle charge on it and when i was tightening my terminals down i broke one... damn soft ass lead! oh well they were old and nasty anyways so i have an excuse to go to kragen and buy some new ones now...

PLEASE DONT RAIN TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HA...

ill be checking this thread early, assuming make it to school without throwing up again. just trying to think of a later time in the day when ill get a chance to check it as well. still dunno if i should go. all depends on how i feel i guess. :barf:

edit: if I do go, I'll be the guy sitting in his black dsm with three blankets wrapped around him

Haha sorry I should have thought about htat. As for distance they take about the same amount of time to get to after you factor in traffic. Plus by going to Sears point you have to pay 5 ####ing dollars to get back over the golden gate(seriously what a ####ing jip). Anyways I digress back to the topic at hand, The website for Sac is www.sacramentoraceway.com you want to look for the test and tune days. Test and tunes that don't have the (100$) next to them are 45$. I know its a bit more expensive than going to sears for weds. or even Sac for weds.(it is also 15$ for sac on weds.), however, I usually get in 8-10 runs and that is with letting the car cool down between runs/taking a break/bbqing/etc... If I was to hot lap it at a test and tune day(a normal one at least)you could easily get ni 25-30runs.

The track prep is a bazillion times better at Sac on test and tune days as well. They don't have that ### ass bracket racing BS, and the track officials are usually less tense and more leniant with you. Another nice thing about Sac on the test and tune days is the fact that the few street cars that come out usually are on slicks and the rest of the cars are full drag cars so the track gets stickier and stickier throughout the night/day. The only complanit I have about Sac is the facilities blow pretty big butthole. The stands are not much better than falling apart and there is no shade whatso ever. This can be remidied however by taking one of those fold out canapy thingies. We and my friends usually all chip in for someone(gf/wife/friend with downed car) to drive a truck or suv up there so that we can bring a bbq/cooler, tent, chairs, jack, tools, and the slicks. If not you just try to shove the slicks in the back of the dsm and smell like tire the whole way home:D .

If Sears offered test and tune days then I would be all over it but weds night drags suck at either track really. Oh one last reason why I like Sac better is because you don't get all these ####ing idiot ricers(domestic or import owners) that do huge burnouts on street tires. It ruines the the little track prep they do and makes getting traction even harder because there is now oil all over the staging area. Alot of this isn't a problem for low/medium powered AWDs but for a fwd guy like myself it means the difference between enjoying yourself and leaving early. And I don't know how Sears feels about bringing out bbqs.

right on for the reply zach.
If we can bbq and do all that id be more than down to have some kind of norcal/ bay area meet at a test n tune day for the real track enthusiasts! Ive been meaning to post it up in the norcal meet thread but it seems with your big bold letters that you have this meet set in stone whether 3 or 30 cars show up. But its always an option for a future meet. Plus id like to go with some friendly faces and people that know what their doin. Its always slightly intimidating going to a new track to race for the first time. You (I) dont want to be the idiot thats looks lost and lines up in the wrong line or something. I had a couple of domestic buddies running 10's that go to sac religiously that could have shown me the ropes, but ive kind of lost touch with em.

I also hear ya on the idiot racers at wed night drags... when i had a gst a lot of people pissed me off, but now that i have awd im like eh...ill get out of the hole fine. And the bracket racing thing kind of pisses me off too... i guess it gives the good drivers a chance to get a few more runs in, but id like to be able to run when i want and when im ready and not have to worry about getting knocked out when im trying to reach some goals for the night.

anyways i hope to see a good turnout of dsm's (at least 3) tomorrow if it doesnt rain. Ill post up in the morning as soon as i hear the word from infineon.

TSTKL... hope ya feel better man, i understand if you cant make it out... there's always next week!

No problem bro I am just trying to help out and organize our local community a little bit. In recent months we have been all over the place and are for sure lacking comrodery. For this meet I would like to keep it where it is planned but, yes, I would like to have a track meet at a test and tune at sac. I think it would be totally awesome to get us all together for a track day and have a bbq or what not. Don't worry bro all in due time, hope to see you at the meet next month.

well i called just now and the answer i got was... call back at 12:30 -1:00 to get a definate answer. The lady said as of now we most likely will run, but the definate yes or no answer will come then. Ill call again then and then post the results.

everyone keep your fingers crossed until 1:00. :sneaky:

It sure is sunny here in the southbay. It's breezy, with a few clouds. Things are looking good down here. I know the northbay can be a different story sometimes.

sorry folks. the races for tonight have been CANCELED ...
any time that there are high winds at infineon they cancel racing. Also, its supposed to rain at 530 or 600 so thats only like a half hour into the bracket racing.

Sorry guys im as disappointed as the rest of ya... but i guess ill see ya next week!

awww, i wake up to this? o well, I probably wouldnt have gone anyways. I'm still kinda sick. next week should be good though. well just have to wait and see.

well i took the extra down time from not going to the track to put in my 2g maf... now i have a CEL... air intake temp sensor... i thought i had switched pin 6 and 7 so i switched em back... still get the cel and the car idles the same, anyone think i have a dead maf...???

if it was me i would have not bought the 2g maf to begin with. i would have got an evo8 maf or a gm maf. the evo8 being the more affordable of the two. maybe just swap the 1g back in and work on the injectors and getting your tune down with those. or call paul and ask him.

yeah man i posted up on the dsmlink forums and im waiting on some responses to my questions. After i see what people there have to say then ill start to troubleshoot. I might be takin a ride up to paul's shop tomorrow to see if he can help me find the problem...

WHO'S GOING TOMORROW???

it looks like the weather is going to be perfect for tomorrow. No wind, overcast and in the 50-60's. Way better than running at infineon in the summer 80*+ especially for us turbo cars. Remember to bring a sweatshirt folks, once the sun goes over the hill there it gets COLD at infineon.
Alright down to business... Who's going?
I talked to paul at newlogics, he said if he gets enough work done he's down to roll.

1. T9S1i - Danny
2. newlogics - paul (maybe)
3. ....???
