i have 91 gsx with a stock motor(which should be a 6bolt motor). i was just wonder what would I need to do to put a 7bolt head on the 6bolt block. I don't want to have to tap my block and all. Would I just need to use 6bolt head studs or would that not work with the 7bolt head.
Thanks!

It will bolt right on if you use the stock 6 bolt head bolts. IF you are going to run arp studs than you will need to enlarge the holes in the head for the stud to fit thru. Nothing will have to be tapped.

6 bolt studs are bigger than 7bolts so you would have to get the holes in the head enlarged for the bigger studs. Some people just shove the 6bolt studs through the 7 bolt head, but thats not recommended at all. just have a machine shop tap the head to accept the larger bolts. 6bolt has 12mm studs and 7bolts have 11mm studs as long as I remember correctly.

So I would just need the machine shop drill the holes to 12mm?

Due to the diffrent size head bolt holes 1g 12mm bolt w/13mm head bolt hole and the 2g with 11mm head bolt and a 12mm head bolt hole

The head bolt holes in the 2g head need to be enlarged to 13mm

You will also need the matching 2g intake

I wouldn't be able to use the intake that I already have on my 6bolt?

I would listen to bogus over me I cant remember exactly off the top of my head and he is the go to machine work guy on here LOL. But i do know for a fact you cannt use the 6 bolt intake manifold.

The 1g manifold will bolt to the 2g head and seal up with a 1g gasket, BUT it is a bad idea because the ports are taller in the 1g manifold and will create a lot of turbulence in the runner.

The 6bolt and 7 bolt have diffrent intake runner sizes.

Yes, the 6 bolt intake will bolt to the 7 bolt head, but the intake runner is much larger, so when ail flows from the intake to the head, it will "Hit a wall"

It is not 12mm you need the head drilled out to, but 13mm or 1/2 inch, you have to have some clearance around the head bolt/stud.
