ok quick stupid question. whats the difference between direct port and nos fogger?

ok quick stupid question. whats the difference between direct port and nos fogger?

NOS names their kits based on what is included. A NOS fogger is more than likely one of their lower end kits. Direct port is the best to go with if you can afford it, because it gives you the same nitrous and fuel to each individual cylinder.

I have a 2 stage wet kit. I do it that way so it's not 1 great big blast of power that in some cases causes engine failure or clutch slip. A 2 stage allows the power to come on in a linear fashion. I'm glad your deciding to use nitrous but beware the cost of refills seem to be going up. At least in my area they are. I used to pay $55 for a refill, now I pay almost $70. But I also used to pay less than $5 for fast food value meal. LOL Inflation sucks.

direct port means it goes directly into you're intake or taped into you're intake manifold, A fogger is the valve that sprays the nitrous.

well right now im in the early stages on researching nitrous. Im still looking at kits (very pricy) then i have to map out how to run my system, and install (the biggest PITA for me on cars).

a few basic question

1) do i have to beef up rods and crank? the internals on my car are stock
2) how bad is the wiring hookups?
3) how do i hide the bottles, without to much custom fab?

thax again

What are you using the car for and what are your goals? Establish a goal for the car first and plan around those goals.

Is it a street car? Is it going to be road racing, drag racing, or autocrossing? Often times you'll find that nitrous isn't your best bet for a daily driver. Obviously there are exceptions but my bottles always seemed to be in the way when I would pull my golf clubs outta the car.

To answer your questions though, no your internals don't need to be upgraded to run a small 50 shot. The wiring is relatively easy and straight forward, and the fab work is as simple as installing a couple brackets for mounting the bottle. If your going with a direct port you'll wanna take off the intake manifold and have it tapped and threaded for the nitrous jets.

However when you T off your fuel line to feed fuel to the nitrous kit, you run the risk of running too lean while your spraying nitrous. I'll explain......... When your close to maxing out your injector duty cycle from your other mods, your taking chances you don't need to take. Then when you thief fuel from your supply line to send another 75 hp jolt to your motor through the nitrous kit, bad things can happen. So it's always a good idea to have enough fuel than not enough fuel.

The piston rings, and head gasket are usually the first to go when someone has been improperly using nitrous. So I wouldn't worry as much about the rods and as I would the piston rings and headgasket. A lot of guys run only ARP head bolts and a MLS headgasket to get deep into the 10's.

First thing you should do is learn as much as possible about internal cumbustion engines. There's a lot of informative information on youtube.com. The more you learn, the less you get flamed about being a newbie. Go to the FAQ section and read through it a few times. Also, some good ole hands on wrenching is VASTLY important. You have a great platform that a lot of people would love to have. Treat it right and don't give up on it.

Welcome to the DSM family.

Might I suggest something without sounding offensive, if you're unsure of installing a power-adder and dont have alot of self confidence in doing so, WHY ON EARTH would you want to strap a bottle of explosives behind your seat and risk really doing damage to yourself or your car?

First off Im not puttin No2 on my current DSM. Im gonna wait to trade in for a GSX with a manual trans. I have an auto GST as more or less my guinea pig car to establish myself and get myself comfortable with DSM. I have no intention of putting "explosives" behind my seat right this instant. Unfortunatly my dream DSM is way beyond my current budget so Im gonna be doing alot more reseach than modding.

Right now the only problem I've had is finding a GSX stick that isnt beat to hell
