So I have a intercooler installed I just dont have the pipes running to it yet. My car is running great right now and I really dont know if adding the intercooler pipes is going to be that much of a gain..I hear storys about pipes blowing off and the time and effort making my own kit. Will it help my airflow, as far as temps go I seem to be doing just fine right now. What will I expect to get out of this?

My car
Big 16g turbo
Stage 3 clutch
255lph walbro fuel pump
750cc injectors
3" apexi N1 turbo back exhaust
3" intake
Greddy bov
272 intake/exhaust cams

It will help the car air temps alot. It is well worth it. As far as the pipes blowing off and what not if it's a cheap kit than I'd imagine so but a good brand will hold. Tighten the clamps with a socket not a flat head screw driver too. If you install that FMIC you will notice a huge difference. I installed mine with a 16G and it helped run cooler and better in my car

An FMIC in Maine, you should see almost ambient intake temps o.0
Get a kit that has Tbolt clamps and beads on the piping, you shouldn't blow a pipe off with the right kit.
Did your FMIC come with piping or just the core?

It's an amazing idea. Besides with your mods it seems you could push your motor a little farther with an FMIC. Give it a shot and make it. If you don't like it, pack it up and sell it.

As long as it doesn't have holes or cracks, it's a HUGE upgrade over the stock SMIC. Any setup can blow off IC pipes, even stock. Make sure any and every piping is beaded to help prevent blown couplers. I haven't had problems with t-bolt clamps or regular worm clamps.

go for it man, just get all pipes beaded and some good clamps. tighten everything down with a socket (don't go crazy tho) your car will be much happier. i'm throwing on a evo fmic with just my 14b :D, so a 16g will love it.

I just put my FMIC on. Made a big difference even with a stock t25. Bought an OBX kit. went on with a little twisting and bending, but nothing major. Just needed to order new, smaller couplers.

I personally think it would be lame not to use it. It's there for a reason and that is to cool the air. Please don't use it as an ornament.

Im using dsm link and thanks all. Looks like i will throw some pipes on the bad boy. I remember seeing a post from someone a little while ago about what exact bends the used. I want to order the pipes i need as soon as I can.
