Raceline Tuning Civic, Cincinnati
I have to say Im quite impressed. Ive been looking for a dyno in my area and finally found one. While looking over the dyno I asked about their Civic...
Its a mid-90s Civic hatch with an LS motor, exhaust, Tial wastegate, BOV, FMIC, and a few other turbo requiring mods. The turbo of choice is a 60-1. Theyre running a 60-1 turbo on stock LS internals!!! I didnt know Civics could do that. Yes, I know thats not the stock Civic motor.
They showed me a slip theyd gotten a few weeks before running a 12.8 1/4 on slicks that arent slick anymore. Im impressed. Thats all there is to it. I dont like Civics and I never will own one, but wow!
They had another Civic with basically the same setup and it ran strong for a long time. I think they sold it.

ls motors have become the motor of choice for turbo applications. i didn't know they could spool a 60-1, but i'm guessing they may be using some laughing gas for the lower rpms.
i don't think that civics are bad cars. they are cheap, reliable as hell, and easy to tune for novices. sure, the majority of civic owners are kids who like euros and fart cans, but i think it's safe to say that most of us have been there before. i know i have.
back on topic:
i think that they should be running quite a bit faster for that large of a turbo, they probably have some bugs to work out still. but overall, that's not a bad time for a motor with stock internals.

No this car wasnt primer black. It was a silver-goldish color. Kind of ugley IMO. When they ran that 12.8 they were only running like 8 lbs of boost. Also they had a nitrous bottle in the back of the car so I inquired about it. The guy said they used it for intercooler spray and they got a garuanteed 30 hp when they did use it.
Since they ran the 12.8 theyve redone the internals. Im kindof looking forward to seeing what this little POS runs. Also I forogt to mention... its a right-hand drive Civic which is very cool.

I have never understood why Civic owners have to put a huge turbo on a stock motor and run 8 lbs :thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown . " Yo dawg I got this tyte T88 that I am going to put on my hatch. Im going to run 5 lbs and my car will run 2's all day long, WERD"
So dumb. They could put a 14b or 16G on that car and still run the same PSI and it would actually spool at a decnt RPM. I saw a vid of a 350 WHP civic driving in a city. When he got on it he only made power from about 6-9k and then shift, wait, tire spin, shift, wait, tire spin. POINTLESS.

Was that the right hand civic? My friend bought that off of the shop and it was a piece of shit after he got it haha so he traded it for a a different hatchback which got stolen a few weeks later haha but now he runs the STI up at Total Performance Racing.

I think it's cool that people keep bringing back old threads. It's like seeing the good ol' days again.
