I have a street car. What do I need to come out and test or race?

The basic items needed to pass tech inspection for the typical street car include good tires, a battery tie-down, radiator overflow catch-can, operable neutral-safety switch, seat belts, and a valid state driver's license or NHRA competition license is required for all participants. How much of this is for real, and how much is bull?

Your car should have all that crap in it already. If you go through inspection and you're missing something they'll tell you what to fix and give you your $ back at the gate since you can't race. None of it is BS. Most tracks follow the rules pretty strictly. :D

If you have a MT car you don't need a neutral safety switch.

Laser0385 - I just noticed your post on the new acquisition and saw you were in Edmonds. (Bothell here / I use to live in Shoreline/ and there is another DSM (Bothell/Mill Creek) "OMS_DSM") way cool that your pretty close.

I don't know the answer to your question (which from the looks of it the others have answered) but "OMS_DSM" might be able to help you as he's been on a track, specifically Pacific Raceways. So try to PM him. He might be able to give you an idea on cost and what you might have to go through.

From what I've seen so far in terms of searching for a track.. Pacific Raceways seems to be the only one on our side of the state.

I definitely want to get a timesleep but I've got a bit to go in terms of just 'normal' standard maintenance first.. so I'm obviously not in a hurry.

Hey, if you and that OMS_DSM guy want to get together, there is an import race in Yakima, WA on Sept. 13, pretty small, but we could more than likely dominate the E.T. Bracket street class in our hard charging DSM's.

"If you have a MT car you don't need a neutral safety switch."

You need a clutch switch if you have a mt car, so that your car won't start without the clutch in..

Laser0385 - LOL hard charging.. Ya I'll bump the gate open. ;) but seriously there is a DSM member in Yakima. I'll head to Hangout forum after I post this and bump the thread up with your Yakima Sept. 13 message. :) I won't be able to make it but at least there may be other people there.

And here is a direct PM link to OSM_DSM just click it and it should sent you into a personal message form to contact him about the track info. He went last year I think but I'm sure his intel on the area will help you ask any questions should you choose to e-mail the people at Pacific Raceways (Warning flash presentation intensive sight).
