2G how much it would cost to replace engine wiring harness

Hi, The car i am looking at is a 95 Talon Tsi FWD and it had an engine wiring harness fire and i was wondering if anyone could give me some insight on how much it would cost to fix it the engine is just all the wire im assuming are gone. and if it could be done on my own.

Wow, An engine wiring harness fire... is this a rebuilt car.. or salvaged. That just sounds strange to me, like someone either rebuilt the car from a collision and in the process of putting it back together grounded something that shouldnt be grounded . im sure the ecu is fried.. I would imagine... hopefully some one can give more insight as to how this happened.

his amp wire caught fire and then the rest of the wirres caught with it n the insurance totalled it

they have alot of stuff to rewire muscle cars, but they have less wiring because those cave man cars were only made to make a ton of hp and nothing elce:laugh:

Thats expensive. The engine harness,I wouldnt doubt the ecu being fried. If you mechancally inclined and you have the time and patience I'm sure you can go on DSMtraders.com and find a harness for 1/3rd of what it would be brand new.. and an ecu if needed.

I thought I was the only one

My engine harness fried 2 years ago in my 91 laser 2.0 nt. Long story short, the engine is now in a 90 talon nt and a good used engine harness came from a out of state junkyard for $100. 1G dsm'ers please to god use your battery tie down bracket! And DO NOT USE A WING NUT ON TOP YOUR POSITIVE BATTERY TERMINAL. Surprisingly all of my engine wiring melted togeather and frayed, all my grounds fell apart, and the wierd thing is my ECU still works perfectly fine. i run it in my car now, with a half melted plastic clip and the casing rusted from smoke/suit. Make sure you get the correct year wiring along with maybe the rest of the interior wiring. I swapped 3 different harness's in my car before I got the right one. I had to replace most of the sensors on my engine, but forgot to change the melted wiring on the trans, hooked it all up and drove for 300miles and the auto trans died from being in "limp mode" I now just completed the auto to manual swap and have to say Im glad to be back on the road again.
