Bolling AFB,
I just recently bought a '90 Talon AWD Tsi, and I was driving down the road and the little light next to the check engine light came on. Since then my EGT has been showing a average 100 degree increase, and it has a tendancy to go up more as I accelerate, but not usually over 1450 Farenheit. I am a little unfimiliar with my car still, so I was hoping for some help on what might be wrong and what I might have to do to fix the problem.

HAHA when I first bought my car I was wondering the same thing. Its supposed to look like a radiotor...it comes on when your low on coolant. Which would definetly explain the increase in temperature.

My cousin invested in a '95 talon AWD, about a month before I did, and he had me check the Fluid, so I did, and it was full. The light doesnt go on and off, since it came on, it has stayed on, and unless radiator fluid that is full to the cap is not enough, I don't know what else needs to be done. But, whatever help I can get is more than appreicated.

Thanks,
Eric

Light came on in my car few months back, it means your overflow is empty like enigma_man said. Just fill up the resevoir with 50/50 water and coolant.

All it took was my girlfriend looking under the hood to find where to fill it... and the "Radiator" light, I think it looks like... I dunno what it looks like other than not a radiator.

I have a 1994 Eagle Talon TSI, and the other day on way back from school, a yellow light on the right of my check engine light turned on. What the hell is it suppose be. Thanks for your help!!!!!

Ok here's the deal, Earlier in the summer I noticed that little yellow light in the dash coming on. (Overheat light I think) I took it in and the mechanic just wiggled this plug by the coolant cap and the light went off. It started doing this again and I wiggled the same plug and it wouldn't go off, so I cleaned the plug off and the sensor and it went off again. Now it's on again and it won't go off now. I have two questions: Am I right that it is the overheat light? And what is this sensor called? It is located right underneath the coolant cap with a one wire hookup. Also this light will come on as soon as I start the car, so I know that it is not actually overheating. BTW it's a 1.8L, if that makes any difference. Thanks in advance for any help..

well, check that there is coolant in the overflow bottle. that's where the actual sensor is on our 2.0 cars not sure about a 1.8 though. if there is no water in the bottle then i would fill it up and turn the car back on it see if it is still there. if not it could just be a bad sensor.

I'm no master mechanic but have you tried flushing the coolant system. It might make a difference if not it's good thing to do anyways.:thumb:

Yeah I just had the coolant flushed not too long ago. There is no sensor in or on the overflow bottle. The one I'm talking about is located right underneath the thermostat housing. It hooks up with just one wire. I just don't know what it's called, just in case it's bad and I gotta replace it.

that light is your coolant level indicator, obviously your reseviour is full right? all i had to do is top mine up and it went away.

Somebody please help me!

I have a automatic 91 TSi and for the last few days a light on my instrument panel has been lit up. I don't have an owners manual and I can't seem to find any information on what the light stands for. The light is yellow and is on the lower left side on the instruments, next to the "check engine" light. It has a picture on it that sorta looks like an air filter or maybe an alternator flipped sideways. Any help would be greatly appriciated. Thank you all.

If you used your owners manual, shop manual, or the search function, you would know it was your coolant light. Please note the GIANT "Don't post questions" text in the archives.

yea man you've by driving with that thing on for 3 days your dangerously low on engine coolant you need to fill it up with anti-freeze like 2 days ago. haven't you noticed your engine temp going past normal.

o yea also since you don't have a manual you need 50/50 coolant with e something. I buy Peak anti-freeze for mine it works well under cold temperature's

Does any one know what the little yellow light next to check engine light means? or what that little picture is suppose to represent?

Check this thread it may have the answer for you. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=66557&highlight=lincoln
