Which model/year DSM?

I'm thinking about selling my '98 non-turbo car and buying a 1G AWD model. I was just wondering if there is a certain year I should look for, or if there are any meaningful differences in the 1G cars from year to year.

1991 is what you want

6 bolt, considered bulletproof in comparison to the 7

Personally I agree with him ^^^^ but most people will tell you to get a 92 with a 6 bolt in it. The reason I like the 91 is pop ups and they don't have the downfalls of the 90 (different input shafts, ecu, coil packs and all that other junk that makes them hard to work with). The 92 are harder to find with the 6 bolt and I don't like there headlights as much.

i have a 91 as well and love it but if you can find a 92 with 6 bolt motor and 4 bolt rear get that, then you wont have to switch to 4 bolt rear

Ok, well is there any way I can tell that it's a 6 bolt engine in a '92 without actually opening the hood and examining it? Like VIN number or anything?

any car manafactured before the third week of may in 92 is a 6 bolt.

look at the tag on the firewall closest to the battery,its says DSM on it,it has a build date.
