Last night I put on my new intake, then today I put on my uip and Greddy Type-S BOV. I didn't adjust it at all, I just went out and drove it. It seemed fine, but then I took my uncle out for a drive and he noticed when I shifted, it made a loud whoosh kind of sound, and then the regular BOV chirp (i guess it's regular). Anyways, is that normal? Also, it doesn't make the whoosh in first. just the chirp. but from second up it does it. if I get on it and let off the gas without pushing the clutch in, it whooshes. And if i'm not under high boost, it flutters a little bit but no whoosh. Sorry if this is confusing. Please help.

So it's supposed to make that other noise? I was listening a little closer today, and it's more of a pfffttt sound. But I guess that would make sense, now that air is hitting a metal intake it would sound different then just blowing into a rubber one huh?

I believe the Greddy BOV sounds different than the stock BOV for one thing. That might be part of the "new" noise.

You'll also be hearing intake noises now (with an open element filter). You get to to hear the turbo slurping in air. The stock intake piping damps most of those noises out.

And adjust your BOV! Correct me if I'm wrong guys, but I think the Greddy needs to be adjusted - starting with the screw in the middle range somewhere. There's info on the web somewhere on how do it, but I don't know where at the moment...

Its normal. The Type S has a sharp whistle then a long swoosh. Sounds very nice. A more common sound associated with surge is a frequent "chchchchshhh" or studder. Most BOV's will studder at low RPM's, but if it still shudders or studders at a WOT shift, then you need to loosen the screw a bit.

I havent installed one Type-S BOV (5 at that) that has needed adjustment out of the box. If for some reason it does, simply adjust the screw on the top of the BOV. Clockwise tightens, counterclockwise loosens.

Ok, so the studder I hear at low RPM's is normal. I personally like the studder sound. Like in Gran Turismo 3. ;) Anyways, I messed around with the adjustment screw, and loosened it up a bit. Then today I get on it, and it won't go anything over 13 psi, even when peaking. Before it was peaking at almost 17. Will leaving it loose like that, so it won't go over 15 OK? Kinda like a boost controller before I get a boost controller? Or is there something else wrong and it should still go to 17 no matter how I adjust it? I don't want to boost too high and blow my turbo before I have the money to buy a new one.
