02 sensor?

Hey, I have a 97 gsx, its been running rich since i bought it. The check-engine light has been on. You can till its rich cause it kinda smokes and can smell it and very bad on gas. The owner before said it needs a new 02 sensor, how do i check it and replace it so my car will run normal. Any help?

its not hard, youll need a new one www.oxygensensors.com youll need an oxygen sensor remover, just a deep well socket with a slit in it for the wire, just unscrew the old one, and put the new one it, if it doesnt come out easily, try warming the car up for a min or 2, that helps sometimes, also try some liquid wrench, goodluck
