I drive a 91 FWD Talon Turbo and I give all respect to AWD's but I'm tired of hearing about them hiting 10's and 9's. Is it possible at all can you make a GS-T into a 10 second car? I would personally love to do this myself to see a GS-T in the top 10 1/4 times on this site. Does any one have opinions and sugestions how to do this?

I dont know if you guys go back that far in the DSM world, but Jason Lu back in 1997 had a 10 second GST that was almost full weight, full DVD player, stereo system, body kit and rims. Even without the aid of the more advanced tuning tools and nicer turbos available for DSMs now, he ran that time, was featured in Turbo twice, ran 147 mph in the quarter mile and drove it to his workplace in Sunnyvale quite frequently. A very nice car.

*edit* I see your looking for a 97-99 black GSX, you have great taste! ;). Good luck with the search! *edit*

Reality check? are u fukkin kidding me? GS-T's have a higher probability of running 10 second 1/4 miles than a GSX MOD FOR MOD. The GSX has all wheel drive start i agree, but u get some slicks on your FWD to get traction (the stickier the tire, the higher rpm u lanch) and your starts are close to the gsx's, not to mention the GSX loses alot of power to the extra 2 wheels it has to pull, especially at higher speeds. This makes the GST much MUCH easier to accelerate than the GSX and this is what makes the best 1/4 mile time. Id rather have a GST anyday than a GSX. sure GSX is good for street racing and owning little civics at lights , but for a 1/4 mile, u ask any REAL tuner or racer and they will tell u FWD or RWD ALWAYS owns AWD cars on the higher 1/4 mile times....

Not to mention you dont need anywhere close to 30 grand in mods, laff....You put about 15 in and you'll go so fast you'll shlt your pants...then again when the cops pull u over for doing 160 on the freeway

hell even 5 grand in the right mods will dramatically lower your eta's.
If your lookin for a mod list, pm me and ill let u know what to get.

Ya just dump 15 grand and watch everything brake. He'll be replacing tranny after tranny not to mention it not even being a daily driver anymore.

You really need to check yourself. What are the fastest dsms in the 1/4? Awds

Uhh I think you need to goto the race track and watch for a little while. Can you tell me how many stock chassis FWD cars are running 8's?

When there is a will theres a way and I can see a 10 second GS-T. Look how many FWD cars out there that are running 10's. The 4g63 can pack alot of power that can pull the GS-T with slicks to do 10's. And why would you have to spend $30,000? On what? And does anyone know of any street tires that can give you traction as close to slicks?

rob from extreme motorsports ran a 10.70 in his 90 fwd about a month ago, he had a little 10 second club sign in the shop when i last went in there, i dont know exactly whats done to the car, and its turbo is one of those "we cant tell u what it is cause it hasnt been released to the public yet" turbos, but it ran a 10.70 and its fwd
as for tires, the best thing u can get without actually getting slicks is the BFG drag radials, my friend has to run them on his turbo civic because it on street tires it doesnt chirp 3rd gear, it spins it untill u let off the gas, and i mean spinning to the point that it isnt accelerating anymore, its much better with the bfg drag radials, they look more like a street bike tire then a car tire, very minimal trad pattern

oh, and stay away from the nitto drag radials, they suck royaly, my friend has them on his prelude and he said he spins less with street tires, he doesnt catch traction untill well into 3rd gear wth them, i guess if u burn out to heat them up they work better but the bfg drag radials give better traction even wthout burning out to heat them up

I dont think some of you understand what it will take to build and race a consistent 10 sec gst. Tranny's will brake once a month, trailers will be needed. It doesnt take 30 grand for the mods to get enough power but it takes that much to keep the wwd pos running.

Can you find out any info at all about this guys 10.70 GS-T. I don't need to know the turbo but at lease the mod list. Can you find that out for me? And how much would does BFG tires run for?

You really have no clue what your talking about do you? Go check out dsmtimes.org

AWD cars running 11s or faster ----- (115)
AWD cars running 10s or faster ----- (27)

FWD cars running 11s or faster ------ (18)
FWD cars running 10s or faster ------ (7)

Go research a bit before opening up your trap next time. AWD has proven to be superior at the track to FWD.

the bfg tires arent cheap, i dont know exactly how much cause the price will vary depending on where u get them from, check at a local shop that sells BFG tires
as for the 10.70 fwd, its a track car, not a daily driver, if u really want to know its mod list call or email extreme motorsports and ask them, they are usually very helpful and he will probally tell u most of his mods if u ask him about it, his car is on their site under the extreme team tab, its rob mckellar's 90 fwd, it has a mod list on there thats a little outdated, but for the most part thats what u will need to run consistant low low 11s, he did that with the frank 6 and whats on the mod list on the site

John,

Do you know if he's still around? I used to talk to him on occassion, he was doing a new setup and I never figured out what he ended up doing.

I used like seeing pics of him driving to car shows on slicks. :)

You brought back alot of old school memories with that post. w00t.

Last I heard he had sold the car.. ( for really really really cheap ) but hes no longer into the DSM scene, sad to lose such a DSM'er. Jason is a throwback to the days when the DSM crowd wasnt quite as idiotic as some of todays enthusiasts are. He knew what it took to go fast and to go fast it takes real dedication and lots of sacrifice. His car still lives, but is currently owned by a member of a Bay Area race group called DNR. Im quite sure it wont be anywhere close to what the car was before. Sucks really, but yeah.. I always remembered his car for being in the top 5 fastest California cars, and bodykit, DVD player and almost full weight.. One thing to take a DSM, strip it to nothing, make it look like horseass and run 10s, but to do it in a 2g, with DVD, rims, bodykit etc is the sh!t :thumb:

10s at 147 in a fwd show car?!? That would make him the second highest trapping fwd car. Yet I cant find it anywhere. Do you have any links?
