I'm hearing a lot about TIG welds vs MIG welds and i hear about JB welds.... just wondering what they what's the difference???

Thankx

Tig welding invovles aluminium and soft medals, Mig involves harder medals such as cast iron and steel. JB Weld is just a temp fix for holding medal together or filling small holes. It is like epoxy.

umm he's on the right path ^^ but thats a little off... Tig welders can be used on steel as well and it might work on Iron i dont know for sure.. Tig welding just fuses the two metels it does not use a filler metel like most other types of welders so the weld is more pure and thus stronger.. a Mig uses a thin wire to pass the eletric current which also melts it so like Arc welding the filler is the electrode.. Mig welds also require a Co2 tank to keep O2 away or else it will burn the metel you are welding.. i do not belive Tig does.. Tig is a slower welding welder but in the end i think it is stronger and worth it.. and JB weld yea it's just like a epoxy product that is strong as crap... but i would not realy recomend it for automotive fix's and unless it's just something you need to work for that moment untill you can get it fixed correctly dont count on it to last long in hot areas...

So MIG weld is also known as wire fed right????

-I'm 99% sure that all MIG(Metal Insert Gas) is wire fed, the little Licoln welder I got is a wire fed dual purpose, can be switch between MIG and arc weld, the wire fed arc weld is much more easier to use for the beginner, the weld doesn't start until you pull the trigger.

-I suggest you go check them out at a welding supplier, the HomeDepot people doesn't know much about welding.

-My 1st project was the turbo back exhaust for my car.
