ebay pistons?!?

Has anyone used the piston, ring, and bearing sets off ebay? Any feedback? They claim theyre npr pistons with king bearings, all for $140 shipped. Seems fishy to me, considering oem rings from extreme psi are $170 before shipping!

i used two sets on previous GST and Spyder ...i found them to be of high quality , never had any problems ...i bought mine from MIZUMO an ebay ...there are other places that sell but id trust that one

Great! Yeah i picked up a short block with 56k on it, and was trying to decide whether i wanted to get new rings and bearings, or just clean the deck surface, throw on a head and let it ride. Now i think ill rering it

I have researched NPR pistons a lot in the last month or so and have not found a bad review yet. Supposedly they use to make the OEM pistons for Mitsubishi back in the early 90s but I haven't found any proof to back that up. I am going to get a set of these to put in my stock rebuild 6 bolt swap here soon.

I always take the risk and remove the balance shafts and run the block. That's just me though, and I seem to have good luck. Stock blocks can take one hell of a beating.

Well normally i wouldnt have a problem with that, but this block has been sitting under a tarp in someones yard for a year without a head, the deck has surface rust. My original idea was just to break the rust off, throw a composite hg on and ride. Specially since i want to build a stroker over the winter or spring. Now im kinda iffy

100% use them , u wont regret ...and yes NPR was building oem for mitsubishi ...NIPON RACING still has rep in california ..still sell tons of pistons and rings thru dealers ( i worked at one )

Ok one question kind of off topic. So im running a 1g intake mani on a 2g head. Assuming the previous owner didnt, should i port match the mani to the head?

That would take A LOT of porting to the head to match it to the 1g intake ports. I would just find a 2g head.

Currently they are in my friends budget build. No problems, but its a mild build with a td05 20g and stock cams. We built the engine. I should have went with those pistons myself, could have saved me a penny or two.

Quality pistons and rings, any failure would probably be due to poor/wrong installation technique or specs.

I had found a set of top line piston rings for my evo IX pistons for $80. Everywhere else wanted 150 to 200

Yea i guess alot of people, myself included, get turned off ebay because of cheap turbos, manifolds, i.c.s, etc. that dont last longer than it takes to bolt it on. But i was seeing nippon, topline, king, acl, all for bargain prices.

I have a guy local to me that has them in his 2ga and hasn't had any problems with them. He absolutely loves them and for the price if they work why not?
