On the way home from work today, I did a second gear pull. Then got to a red light to make a turn and I heard what sounded like a failing power steering pump. Pulled over at a garage (was heading there anyway to buy some DSM parts), popped the hood.. OMG

Mount dug into the cam gears pretty good. First thing I did was remove the upper timing cover (had to jack the engine up first since it was so low) and made sure all my timing marks lined up. Cams and crank were perfect still.

One stud snapped in half, the other was still in but the nut was missing. So I put a nut on it and tried limping her home. Got on the throttle a little too much and this happened again. The other stud snapped. Same thing happened. Checked my marks, all good.

Put a bolt in one of the holes with a socket as a spacer since the bolt I had was very long. Made it home.

Tomorrow I am going to the junk yard to get the whole assembly. Mount and bracket. This happened on an ex-friends 2G as well. The torque from the 4G63 and 20 year old nuts, bolts, and studs don't mix well.

But is there more to it? Is something else wrong here? I don't want to get new stuff and have this happen again. This seems pretty common. What are you guys doing to fix/eliminate/prevent this from happening?

Almost looks like the stock motor mount wasn't in to good of shape I would replace with prothane inserts.

^ Thats exactly what it looks like. The mount wasn't fastened down properly.

Pics were taken after removing stuff. Should have added this before, sorry.

The stud shown in the pic was the one without the nut on it at first. The other stud to the left of it (that is not show in the pic) was the only one with the nut.

So, both studs were there, only one with a nut. I didn't notice this before. And the 3rd hole is for a bolt I believe (? or stud?) which also was not installed. Which would make sense.

Thanks for the answers guys. Just wanted some input. You guys are right.
