Hey guys. Im new here, sort of. I had a 97 GS as my first car back in 07 and became a member. Ended up selling it and got into Jeeps. Now im tossin the idea around of selling my Jeep and gettin back in the DSM scene. Either that or the Honda scene.
I found a 97 GSX for sale in my area. Completely stock with 95xxx miles for sale for $5000. Its an automatic but i was mainly looking for an automatic car anyways because i will be occasionally sharing it with my girlfriend who doesnt want to drive stick lol. Good deal? Heres a link:
I really hope this is the right section to post this in. Im hesitant to get back into an Eclipse because my last one i had blew the headgasket. I need a dependable vehicle to get to and from work and that wont be breaking down on me all the time. An added bonus is if i get an AWD i wont feel so stupid in the winter weather, wishing i had my Jeep back with 4wd lol. Anyways thanks guys i appreciate any help or words of advice you have.
The price is right, but I find it suspicious that he has no pictures of the rust hot spots. Get pictures of the strut towers, hatch inside and out, rear rockers near the side skits in the wheel wells, and underneath the car front to back.
Excellent
$6,888
Verify Condition
Very Good
$6,588
Good
$6,463
Fair
$5,788
That's private party value from KBB.
(More reasons to hate the cheap-o's that call themselves DSMers.)

I just checked KBB and in my area its worth $5998 in Good condition and even fair is still rated at $5323. Is $5k too much?
No it's a good price if it's rust free and in good mechanical condition.

Reason: Auto-merged with previous post to prevent "bumping" within a 24 hour period

Looks like the clear coating is coming off the hood to. It says obo, offer him 4000. Do it in person! Seeing it in a text and actually seeing the cash are two completely different things.
Yep the clearcoat is peelin off bad. Interior looks ok and engine bay looks clean.
Not really sure if i want somethin that needs a paintjob. If it was just the hood i could handle that but its the whole roof and quarter panels too. Bleh.
I would say It looks well worth it. maybe haggle the price but from what i can see of the strut towers they are clean. The engine bay isn't filthy and hacked AND the interior looks pretty damn good. Hop on it

Car looks like a great find. I wouldn't worry about the peeling clearcoat, you could always get a cheapo Maaco job for a few hundred bucks.
And about buying and auto, all 3 guys near me with high hp dsm's are all in the process of going auto. You just saved yourself some serious hassle if you ever want to build her.
Hey OP, just take a look at the cars that all the "nay sayers" are driving. You'll notice a few things about them and then it will make complete sense
Lol ^
Op the car looks like a pretty decent find. I was going to say please dont drive it in the winter lol. It looks too clean for salty roads.
5k for a clean, stock, low mileage 2g awd, not too shabby imo. A cf hood will take care of most of that peeling clear coat. If it all checks out id pick it up.
