Looking to start the DSM tuning dance

(Sorry its so wordy, I tried to cram a lot in here)
First off let me say I am not completely new to the DSM scene. My first car 6 years ago was a 98 GS. Tinkered with her all the time but mostly for learning, never did any hard mods. Just the usual small mods. My step father is a mechanic so whenever something would break, he'd bring home tools, hand them to me, crack open a beer, and watch me attempt to fix things until he felt it was time to step in.

However last month I purchased a 95 GST (Sporting a shocking 123,000 miles, considering my GS has 165,000). And I've got the tinkering/modding itch a bit. The difference from my GS is very noticable, as expected, and I've kind of figured out what I'd like to do. I've searched the forums to address some of my questions but everyones threads are kind of catered to their own builds, not quite what I'm looking for. So I'm hoping some of you guys could grace me with some help and guidance. Lets get started shall we?!

Heres what I'm kind of looking to do:
My current GST is completely bone stock, and I want to keep close to that for a little bit, I don't want to do anything drastic right away, but obviously I'll mod what needs modded for these upgrades. I would like to push the T25 a little harder, and push the stock system without damaging anything. So that I can really get a feel of the DSM spirit before changing it. And so I don't hurt my wallet right out of the gate, the girlfriend would be a bit upset if I got shiny new toys for the car and not her lol. Most people say 14psi is the max for it (The T25), which sounds good to me right now, I'd settle for 12. So I'm in the market for a boost controller, and am unsure which to buy, more or less specifically. I know I want an EBC, but there are many, and I am unsure which would give me a good bang for my buck, I'm not looking to spend a fortune on one, but want a reliable, and good quality mid-grade one. Something that I could incorperate into the dash or something would be helpful, or hidden in the arm rest, seeing as some are a tad bulky. Any mods that would be needed or prefered would be openly welcomed. I also have to address the common "Lifter tick" that I've got, its not too bad, but I'll be cracking open the head in the comining month to clean and make any adjustments in hopes to clear that up, so any advice would be helpful.

Many people say a good boost gauge is also preference, so same question, what gauge would be good? I'd like something that could continue to keep up with future mods.

Although its not really a tech question, I feel inclined to ask if there is a way to change the stock orange interior glow to green? Or am I gonna have to rip it all apart and custom solder green LEDs to do this? I am unsure about with the gauge cluster, they make those reverse glow but they're blue, so I am unsure if they make green. I've done lighting mods on things before, but I wasn't sure if I would have to do it all manually.

I'll settle for those answered for now. But just something to keep in mind, I intend to do further upgrades in the coming year, probably for next summer. Such as: AWD conversion (Or purchase of a GSX), 16G turbo, fuel system upgrades to compensate new turbo, DSMlink is probably too pricey for me but I'd like it, and and other smaller ones. So if that helps out, then by all means use that info. I'll be working on welding up my GS (dreaded strut tower rust) to use as a daily driver during the harder mods.

Looking forward to hearing what you guys have to say, don't be afraid to school me some, but please keep it classy.

I'd say save some money and get a MBC. The Joe P is like $50. It would be handy to have it cockpit controlled, but Hallman makes one. Might be close to the price of an EBC though...

Get a 30 psi/30inhg boost gauge. You will need it one day I just have an autometer ultra-lite.

There isn't anything to adjust in the head. You will want to get 3g lifters.
