2G Throttle Body Question

So my seals are bad in my throttle body , I ordered a new re manufactured part that has been bored out , I'm going to put this on the car while I fix my old one and then sell the old one. My question is do I need to have the the intake mani machined as well to match the bored out TB? I got it from steve at throttlebodys.com

If the bore is bigger then 52mm then yes you would have to hog out the intake manifold. The air would hit a wall if not properly port matched.

Yes, it would hinder the airflow to have a large tb bore flowing into a smaller IM opening.

Yup. Or if you want to swap manifolds, you can get an Evo 3 manifold which has a 60mm opening (or RVR manifold - almost identical to Evo 3 but with 52mm opening).

it shouldn't make a difference going from a 57mm to a 60mm opening on the IM correct? I already read that it will throw a cel from the egr but I'm already throwing that code : ) lol

Its very easy to port the intake manifold with a dremmel, the aluminum is pretty soft. It took me like 10 min to port my 2g manifold for a 1g TB. I just put the 1g gasket on an traced the inside with a marker to see what needed to be removed.

+1.. thats the same thing I did. I did it when i had my motor ripped out getting rebuilt so it made things a little easier. Its a good time to get a new intake manifold gasket and thermo-spacer as well.

Could I just get a spacer that is machined from 57mm to 52mm and then bolt that in between the tb and the im?

Might as well just sell the one you have and get a normal 2g if you're going to do that.

Either pull the intake manifold and port it or sell the bored tb and get a normal 2g.
