Wiseco ring gaps too big!

So I am currently building a 6-bolt 4G64 to run in my 2G, so as of right now, I am gapping my piston rings accordingly. The bore is 86.5MM and I am running Wiseco pistons. I was planning on doing .017 top and .019 on the bottom, but I ran into a problem. The bottom rings are all too big (3 are .020, and one is .024). Should I do 3 of them at .017/.020 and one at .017/.024? Or should they be even? Also, is that an OK ring gap? I plan on running around 25PSI with a 50 trim, 1G head.

I would run the gaps you suggested they are correct. Call wiesco and see if they can ship you out a new set on there cost at lest the 2nd rings should be covered by them. Yes I would gap them all the same from cyl to cyl.

Have to taken a ring that check .020 in one bore and tried in in the bore that came .024?

Have you mic'ed the cylinders to make sure they were at proper size?
Or are you just assuming the machine shop got it all perfect.

For every .001 you open the the bore, you gain Pi, 3.141 on your ring gap. Think maybe that one cylinder is .0013 over size?

Personally I think your .017/.019 is a tad tight for 25psi. Unless you really know how to tune.

Read this thread, what I said in post #25 would also apply to you.

Piston clearance need help asap

I just checked, and it's the ring that is off, the bore is fine. Also, I remeasured and it seems like its more like .023. So according to the Wiseco sheets "blown race only" spec set it says to run .022/.024. I am not tuning myself, so I want to play it safe, and do some looser set rings. So I guess that's what Ill run. Thanks!

The Machine Shop #### up . When you bore a block and the engine is for race you should bore every cylinder by each piston that is the way that people that race due it . Beacuse each pisto don't measure the same the have a little be of different a d for you be precises and that way you make sure you have proper clearance . Sorry for my grammar .

You are going to be just fine running 0.024, as a matter of fact, i would suggest it being at least that big. But either way try different rings in different cylinders and see what works best for you.

Other than that make sure all cylinders are as even as possible.

Id run higher than .017/.019.. I have my wiseco's at .022/.024 at 30+ psi and everything is perfect. No slap, blowby, Ect...

I think you should go at LEAST .019 up top and .021 bottom..

Correct. That's the way my machine did my engine. Matched each cylinder to the piston
