I have looked everywhere and still alittle confused I still can't find anything telling me how to change ignition timing. I have a 95 gsx with the cas on the back of the cam gear and is not adjustable so don't say just turn the cas because its not on the cam itself like everyone keeps telling me to.. thank you

O okay I see but why doesn't it need to be adjusted I know cause the ecu does it it but dose that mean its ready to go now? See I'm kinda confused

It is pre set where it needs to be for base timing feedback from the factory. The ecu takes the signal and uses it for fuel and timing and adjusts it accordingly.

I did a complete rebuild. So that probably means I need to retime it possibly? With timing light it jumps all over the place

No that doesn't mean that you need to adjust it. There is no adjusting it, it can't be done. If the timing belt is set properly than you are good to go. It is normal for it to jump around with a light. You are over thinking this.

When base timing is set you normally manipulate something (disconnect a wire, ground a wire etc) and by doing that, it commands the computer to fire at 5*BTDC regardless of sensor input, so that way you can set timing to a specific number. When it's set and you let the computer goes back to taking over, the computer alters the timing based on what it thinks it should be, most appropriate for the current situation (IE high elevation).

So with that said, my timing is around 9* and other times it's 12*. It's all controlled via ECU on a 2G and nonadjustable.

For the 6 bolt swapped 2G guys using the 1G CAS, they would hook up a logger and see what the computer is saying for ignition timing. Then check actual timing via timing light on the crank pulley. At that point they turn the CAS until the actual timing matches what the timing value is in the ECU from what the logger says
