Keep factory wires or lose them

Hey I've done quite a bit of reading on alternators, did the saturn swap a month ago or so, and ive decided im going to run a larger gauge wire to the battery from the alternator. My question is, do i keep the existing 2 white factory wires or snip them? I'm unsure which way to proceed, I know I have to fuse my new 4 ga wire regardless. Thanks!

When I do mine I'm going to add the 4ga wire to the factory wires. So it will be almost double what factory could have done.

When I did mine I pulled the factory completely out of the harness and reran my new wires, but the previous owner destroyed the factory wiring beyond using.

Run new ones.
There's no point in having redundant wiring left behind.

What I did, was to leave the two factory 8 guage alternator wires connected, and then I added one more 8 guage wire.
