I own my car for 3 years now and never knew what that small metallic cylinder next to a freeze plug on the exhaust side of my 420a is for. There is a wire attached to it. What's its job?

Its so engine noise doesnt transfer through your radio and play through your speakers but im not sure what its called excatly
