Hey guys. Just bought a 2g Eclipse GST 1998 last week. Second day I had it (please dont flame) I missed a gear and it broke down on me.

The garage said the balance shaft belt broke which caused the crank sensor so go and hit on the timing and AC belt a bit. It could of been alot worse and Ive learned a quick hard lesson.

Anyway, got the car back yesterday and the idle was very rough. He said that it could need to "re learn" its idle or since I tried to start it fuel may still be in the lines. After I got it home (im not mechanically inclinded) I noticed a sensor was broke on the top of the engine. It was the MAP sensor. I was a at a buddys house and he said that would make the car idle rough so I just got a new one of those and put it on.

The car still idles rough. And sometimes even stalls at stops. I know it is tuned and here are the mods:

I shot a quick video so you guys can hear it. Do you think it may need to be retuned after doing these repairs? Something else I could of messed up or need to reset?

Just from the sounds of your story I'm going to say he f'ed up your timing belt job. This always happens.
 



That could be the case. I took it to a "perfromance" garage instead of my regular mechanic bc of all the mods I didnt know what could of been wrong with it.

I am going thru the links you guys sent trying to figure out what to do. I see I can go rent a timing light or something at Pepboys. Do they have a manual on how to use it LOL.

Also say it is messed up, is it a big job to get it right?
 
Most places fail at the timing jobs. Happened twice to me on my 600hp set up. I was too lazy to do it myself and had my local mitsu dealer do it and it didn't turn out well. Look at that.
 
Hey guys. Going to take the car to the shop tomorrow to have them look it over. Just took the car to the car wash and came home with this sound now......anyone have a clue what this could be? Hear it during acceleration/rev. I did stall at every stop now though :( I had to give the car gas for it to start back up.

Sounded like it was coming from the thing where the MAP sensor is plugged into ( dont know engines sorry)

Hey guys. Timing was off by 1 tooth, they put something on backwards and messed up something else too. Now I have tO get another whole timing belt job done plus water pump and a few other non related issues. Car is at JnZ Tuning in Lansdale, PA so I trust it there. Thanks for all the help. Said compression was fine was a small boost leak as well they are sorting out

^^ I talked to the other garage and they told me to give him a call today to see we can work something else maybe I can get some of my money back but yet sucks but hey it's life
