Crank walk

I have seen them so bad they pushed the front crank seal out.
That wasn't a DSM either, chyrsler 2.4.

It is mine, but I bought it like this, I knew the engine was coming out cause it had some severe rod knock. It will be getting another 7 bolt, I'm getting one from some one I know who broke his tbelt. His head is no good but the bottom is alright, the pistons are slightly marked by the valves so I will just swap the head off this engine and drop it in. Of course I will check out the bottom end before I swap it in to make sure the thrust bearings are with in spec.

Yes that video shows crankwalk, no it doesn't only happen to 7 bolts or even just 4g63's for that matter. People need to do some research and quit listening to he said, she said.

Hey guys, dont mean to thread crash but its already being discussed so i thought i would ask. Im looking at buying a block out of a 97 tsi 2gb body style. Does that have the updated thrust bearing? I saw some of you said that they started it in 98, didnt know if maybe the talons were different. Thanks

So here is what a factory beat up thrust bearing looks like from my engine in the first video post of this thread.

Look at the block number or the manufactured date of the car in the driver door jam. I have 2 7 bolt blocks. the one I have in my GSX is #TC429 and its not updated. The one I have for spare is UK-something, it is updated. After UC7** would be updated.

disconnect the clutch switch start lock-out so that the clutch does not have to be pushed in to start up the car.
Be a new way to start a car then - to start in neutral with the "E-brake" on so the car doesn't roll on you. for you're gonna drop the clutch to get the tranny out of gear when you put on the "E-brake" before hitting the key.

Where is the block number located? Sorry. This block is 2 hours away and i want to make sure its the right one and its worth the drive. Thanks for all the help.

the second pic, is the crank end play on my used short block.http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=138089&stc=1&d=1335409697

the third pic is the thrust bearing out of my used short block.http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=138090&stc=1&d=1335409697

the forth pic is the end play on my used short block with new bearings.http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=138091&stc=1&d=1335409697

The first picture is the crank shaft out of the engine that had severe crank walk.
The other three pictures are from my new used short block I just bought. The crank shaft in my new block looks really good, I thought I would check the end play on the new used block before I dropped it in to avoid the same issue a few miles down the road.
So new bearings went into the new used short block.
