Another Ticking Thread, with video

So Ive been fixing up my 98 gsx i purchased and getting into the dsm game. im wondering what this ticking is? It doesnt seem like its coming from the head, moreso the timing belt area. heres a shitty vid if you could all help me diagnose it, and will it cause me any problems?

Does it go away after warming up/driving it for a bit? More than likely sounds like lifter tick...mitsubishi is infamous for it..the cause of it is due to either worn out, or collapsed lifters inside the head tapping everytime the cam engages them. While it is very annoying, its not really a big issue. If it bothers you enough to want to get rid of it, you can get new lifters, or try to clean out and re-prime your old ones. Running a quart of lucas every oil change helps too.

This is all based on the assumption that you checked your oil right? Its not low/needs changed?

I never had a chance to listen to the video but could be a pre turbo exhaust leak. They sound like lifter tick, get louder generally as you rev it, and cause serious performance/boost issues.

That sounds like an exhaust manifold gasket leak to me.

Just something to look at: My timing belt cover was missing a couple bolts and I had a "ticking" that was one of my pulleys rubbing on the timing belt cover. See if there is anywhere that the belt or pulleys are coming in contact with the cover. I would still say its probably a lifter tick, but its just something to check.

Does it get louder as you rev it? It sounds like infamous lifter tick to me.
