Reverse light connector question

I bought my Talon knowing it would be quite the project, but I did not expect this. Form doing some searching on the board I found out that my car in fact has a Auto harness in it. What led me to this is that I ordered a new starter harness cable and come to find out the connectors are not the same.

Now I need to know how I can wire in a manual reverse light switch into my Auto harness. I have search many threads looking for this answer but none were answered. It is like everyone avoids this question like the plague. Anyone out there able to help me?

Also if need I can provide pictures of what I am talking about if it was unclear. Thanks!

What makes you think it has an auto harness, and could you post some pics?

Assuming it's a 1992 or earlier harness, set pin 10 (red wire) of the inhibitor switch to pin 1 of the reverse light switch and pin 11 (red with blue stripe) of the inhibitor switch to pin 2 of the reverse light switch. This also assumes you have the portion of the harness for the manual transmission reverse lights sensor connector or a different way of making the connection to the sensor.

What makes you think it has an auto harness, and could you post some pics?

Tucked in the corner of the engine bay I found the 12 pin automatic connector and the connector of the starter harness is a two pin instead of four. Not to mention once I found the 12 pin connector and removed all the tape I had to search why the two black w\ yellow stripe wires were cut and connected together (to simulate neutral\park). Apparently this connector and the reverse light switch are the only major difference in the two.

So basically I could remove the two needed wires (red and red\blue) from the 12 pin connector and wire them to the reverse light switch connector and everything should work correctly. I was thinking this as well when I saw the 12 pin connector and noticed it had both the red and red\blue but was unsure.

The reverse light sensor is a simple ON/OFF position switch for the manual transmission vehicles. The automatics used the gear position (ON when in reverse, OFF otherwise -- P, D, N, 1, 2). All you're doing is substituting one position switch for another.

That looks like all you'll need to do.
