What is this? (pic attached)

Im trying to figure out what this is but have no clue! I previously owned a same year GST and it didnt have this. I know its got something to do with emissions because its got vaccum lines that go under the battery and eventually to the egr. My GST had the emssions sytem intact and didnt have this. This is a Cali GSX if it matters.

I did try searching, even googled but I've only had vague results.

I think its the charcoal canister IIRC.

Thats what I was thinking but all the pictures I saw when searching were diffierent.

From my understanding the charcoal canister is also under the battery right?

That is the 2gb charcoal canister. If it's not under the battery (circular one you probably saw) or back near the fuel tank (some of them have this weird setup), then they're square and in the front left corner of the bumper. My brother's '99 GSX had the same unit.

I need to mount my fmic but this is in the way. Im hesitant about removing it because I dont want to have any problems with "readiness monitors".

Just pull all the emissions stuff out unless you have emissions... its not necessary and if you have Link you can turn EVAP off so you wont throw a code.
