1998 GSX Wont Turn over (click noise)

Okay i drove my 98 gsx all day today fine, when i got home i shut her down and walked away for about 2 hours, came back to move her in the garage and it wont turn over. When i turn the ignition on all the lights on the dash come on and it just makes a click noise everytime i turn the key coming from right behind the radio.
New Starter
New starter relay
Brand new battery
Disabled the clutch push in safety start thing.

Still having the problem any ideas?

Sounds like connections to the battery are not tight. Pull them off, clean the connections on the harness itself (I usually use a flathead screw driver or knife so it's shiny), and re-install them. Make sure they are tight. Then try it.

I had a problem like 4hrs ago similar to this...I took out the clutch safety thing aswell BTW...... But my problem was the thick positive cable that runs to the starter was bad and it broke off ....all it did was click one and after a while trying it the starter got really hot.....but go check that cable it might help

.....I think it connects to the solenoid or however you spell it

i agree with the majority, this does not sound like a ECU problem, check all of your starter circuit, the wiring diagram is easily attainable, inspect your battery cables too

I had a similar situation about a month ago. Ran fine all day. Came back later to start her up and only clicks. I will say that I had it clicking repeatedly while trying to start. It was a fried starter. If you are only hearing one click and nothing I would say it is a bad ground in the circuit to the starter.

Try opening the car manually with your key in the door lock. Sounds to me like you anti-theft system is acting up. Or your starter committed suicide

+1 Battery. Might of just gotten a dud.
I believe when the starter solenoid goes (and correct me if i'm wrong) it will still spin, but might not engage, or engage fully (as was my case, resulting in a heart sinking grinding noise)

Good luck

You should work on eliminating things. After checking all your fuses and relays, take out the starter and try to power it up with a boost or take it to a store to get checked out.

Have you inspected all of your cables going to the B S and M terminals on the starter? It only clicks once? that tells me that the solenoid is receiving sufficient current to engage the pull in winding. Does the starter or any starter circuit wires feel hot after a few attempts to start?
I'll attach a wiring diagram courtesy of alldata

check if the alt is charging. I had a problem like this but it wouldnt spin the starter, it would engage, and click like a dead battery. maybe bad ignition switch?

Check all of the connections on battery and on the starter that they are clean and not corroded. Also check the ignition switch connection under the steering wheel. It may be loose or there is a shorted wire on the connector.

I can't say for absolute certain on the 2G since I have a GVR4, but there is a three prong connector on the passenger side rail in the engine bay. The largest, "bottom" wire is a black wire, maybe a stripe, and running 12v to that wire will kick over the starter, no matter what. It bypasses everything including the ignition switch and starter relay. If you have the key in the on position, you run 12v to that wire, and the starter hasn't totally S'd the bed, the car is gonna turn over, it's a promise.

Like I said, I don't know if the 2G has that connector, but the 1G and GVR4 do for sure. It is located near the clutch line holder assembly.
