Your thread title is a lie. This is not a new question by any stretch of the imagination.

are you going to tell him to save his money or am I? For two hundred dollars more you can get koni yellows and a gc kit and the best part is it only has one adjustment which is all YOU need.

I just bought and installed these coilovers and the next day I drove down to the shootout.. Alls I can say is WOAHH!! I love these things. Whether or not you track your car is a good question. You may not need these.. But then again that is how I came to decide on these instead of the regular Megan Coilovers. I dont NEED 32 ways of adjustment.. Hence why I went with these!

I'm getting those. When I get em and install em I'll tell you how they are on a DD

I second revmoto's suggestion, and I have actually seen those koni's go for cheaper than that on ebay....check out k2 as well, they make a good product.

32 way is the same as 15 way and most of the clicks in either set up don't do much. The act of fine tuning your car is really something you can only do on track days for track days. With the koni yellows it has two setting and that is all the average driver needs. Can you give a better description than "Whoah I love these things." What are you comparing them to and what rates did you go with? You guys are just buying cheap coil overs to say you own coil overs and the ride quality and handling is being sacrificed.

I have them, and I like them. The car is feels more nimble, and the ride isn't too harsh. The install was easy, and all I had to do was add new bolts and a couple washers to the rear upper arm to get the rear camber back to "normal".

Well since I was coming from Tokico Illuminas with gst Eibach Sportlines, two of which were blown, Id say these things are awesome. I got one week of drive time on this set up before I started tearing the car apart for my all wheel swap. Dampening is set to 6 clicks from hard which is the highest bit of the "street" setting. Handling is super tight with very little body roll. I couldnt be happier with these things.

I'm not, because that rewards (in the technical, psychological sense of the word) the behavior of not searching.

That is true to a degree but since I see misinformation and bad recommendations in every coil over recommendation on here I feel all searching is going to do is lead him down the wrong path. It is very disturbing seeing megan and twin being talked about here as high quality and stellar performance. I guess when you are coming off of shocks with 100k miles on them anything will feel good.I would like to see somebody disassemble a megan shock and compare it to a stock shock and see the internals all just as bad if not worse.

I have searched the tokico illuminas and all I read was good reviews. I saw EZ's and all I could find was people saying that they are back. Not too many reviews. I did see some reviews on honda's, but we are not handa. Thats why I asked. But yes I do auto cross my car. And after i get new coils and bushings, I am going to get into road racing a little.

sorry it took so long to get back but I work alot.

Just to be shure are you guys talking about koni yellows, tokico's, or EZ street series?

Isnt that combo almost double the price of the megan ez's?

If you want to invest in a suspension that works it really isn't that much. You are looking at around $900. Don't be fooled by the glamour of a cheap coil over and anyone who says they are good hasn't compared them to anything that performs properly. Will they perform "well" if you compare them to blown out shocks? What wouldn't. You also don't need to run a GC kit that is really only for track days as a linear coil over spring is more predictable than a progressive spring. For a streetcar I would just go eibach sport lines with koni yellows or sports depending on what you want out of them. Most people also go too far and slam their cam which kills your handling. If looks are more your thing then sure a cheap set of coil overs might fit your bill but if you actually plan on racing your car and want it to handle properly then go with what I recommended.

Just because something is lower priced, doesnt mean one should assume that it isnt as worthy of a product.

With everything you buy, either in person or even over the internet. You get what you pay for.
You could be buying a brand new car on a dealer lot, but whhen you get home it dies and never starts again. Or you could get an ebay CAI for 20 bucks and it performs better than a AEM 150 dollar one.

One should research more before he keeps making comments. Once you learn how a part it made and how it functions you will realize why these will serve you better as a paper weight. Comparing an ebay pipe to a named brand is not the same as comparing a cheap set of coils to a well made set of coils. Their is no such thing as bang for the buck coil overs.

Yeah but unlike all of the coilovers you can get for our cars under 1200$ Koni yellows aren't cheap piece of shit Chinese shocks. All of those coilover kits from 600-1200$ Very similar in quality, and they use very cheaply made shocks to make up for the price difference.

Yeah they might be better than a set of GR-2s on drop springs, but not by much. If your looking at a custom adjustable ride height, cool. If your looking for performance not so much.

Autocross.dsm.org - Build Your Own Konis Look at that if you want some real suspension for track days.

If your just worried about getting low. Drop springs are a lot cheaper.

Are they really that terrible? I dont think the op is building a track car. Probably like most street cars, just looking to get rid of some fender gap and a slightly firmer/sportier ride.

With the eibach/yellows combo your stuck with whatever the ride height is out of the box correct? That might work for some, but after 1k id like it set right. If one car has 18's and another has 17's, know what i mean.

They all say they're pretty decent. :hmm:

The general census seems to be megans for street aps and JIC for track only cars.

The suspension I recommended is not just for track use. Cheap coil overs will offer a really stiff ride that bounces because they don't have the proper valving to combat the rates and road bumps. A lot of lowering springs drop your car too low which will cause your car to handle worse than stock and that will be the same reaction if going too low on coil overs.Function over form here and your car and your butt will thank you. Megans are crap and even JIC's are crap. The only reason I would ever install cheap coil overs is if I had a chick with big tat ties in my car so I can watch them bounce like crazy.

Im pretty sure its the cheap springs that make it bounce. Actually i know it is. I made the mistake of using ebay coilovers like these. And #### did they bounce, had nothing to do with the shock.

Just so we're on the same page here. We're not talking about those kind of "coilovers"

Quote from S&R performance

"They are light weight. the threads are all Teflon coated, the assembly is all 1 piece aluminum and i love how the adjustment dial clicks with every turn. Also the adjustment dials can be locked into place or removed."

vrspeed

"most jackasses don't realize that 95% of import related products are built by the same company in god knows where Asia and just rebranded with another company's name on it with claims of millions of hours of research and better quality materials and blah blah blah."

Ive never heard anything bad about them, on any platform.

and even JIC's are crap.

Ive never heard anyone say that before.

O i totally agree here, i just dont think 1" is enough, specially if you have some weight removed.

I have 300lbs removed from the front of my car and it sits almost higher then the rear, i dont think a drop spring would take care of that. I did alot of searching and planned on getting the megans my for ride sometime this winter.
