Hey guys I recently purchased a used motor from q 92 auto Talon tsi. My car us a 92 manual. My question is which lines are needed and which aren't? LIKE THE ONE COMING OFF the water pipe that goes to the oil filter housing. Do i need that? And also does anyone have a ccoolant ddiagram I can use? I just gotta get these lines done to start her up.

Also , do I need both the oil and coolqnt lines to mmy turbo? Can I get aaway eithout one oor the other? The one coming off yhe front off the block will not come off. Any ideas?

You don't if you don't want to run an oil cooler or, if you do, you have an external cooler setup.

And also does anyone have a ccoolant ddiagram I can use? I just gotta get these lines done to start her up.

This can depend on the turbo. For a stock setup, if you have one going to the turbo, you need the other going away from the turbo. Some folks recommend not running coolant at all to the turbo, but that's for each individual to decide on.

Only 2G's had a coolant line coming out the front of the block; are you sure your engine is what you think it is?

Ya it is a 6 bolt. at least it is from the flywheelbolts. I counted them. So do I need the oil to my turbo? one of the hard turbo lines I couldnt get off. I dont remember atm which one. But I see you said coolant is not necessary to the turbo. I am gonna do that. Also can I block off the lines to the oil filter housing then since my newer engine does not have the line for it?

I believe 40 is the pipe I do not have. Like there is no connector to put a pipe on if that makes sense. No nipple I should say.

Also I am pretty sure I have the one labeled thirty to the turbo. not the other one. Thanks alot for the awesome and timely response.

You need all of your coolant lines unless you are running a "dry" aftermarket turbo. You could also remove your heater hoses that go to the firewall if you don't plan on driving in the winter time.

Absolutely need oil to your turbo, as has been stated, but if you run it from the OFH, check with the turbo specifications on acceptable oil pressure and keep in mind you will likely need a restrictor to bring the pressure down. Anyway, the oil lines would be #25 and the line coming out the top of the cartridge (just left of #33) in the first diagram.

Search through jusmx141's posts for info on running a MHI turbo without coolant or risk posting in "Questions for Justin" but having your post deleted for something he's answered already. :) So long as you provide proper cool down, this shouldn't be an issue.

If you were going to go bare minimum with coolant lines, you could technically get rid of all of the lines except for #38 and #44 in the first diagram. That would eliminate coolant to the heater core (again, as mentioned above), to the FIAV in the throttle body, to the turbo, and to the oil cooler. But that's a whole other discussion on what to loop or block off, what parts to use, etc.

You have this pipe, but it lacks the nipple on the right side that would run to the oil cooler (which is where #40 would go), correct? That would be a 1990 turbo model water pipe since they used external air coolers and had no need for a return line at the oil filter housing to that nipple on the water pipe.

The "other one" is the other coolant line, #33 in the second diagram. It connects to #34 in the first diagram.
