1g Thermo in a 2g

So i have a 1g thermostat on my 2g head. Will this work just fine or do i need a 2g? I have a 1g block on there right now. Also if it does work how do i hook up the top water line? It doesn't reach, but the bottom one does, does the top splice off?

Is it the thermostat, or the thermostat housing? IF it is the housing, you will probably need to measure and get a proper length upper hose.

Do you have a 1G thermostat housing? If you have the 1G thermostat housing you will use the 2g upper radiator hose and the 1g lower radiator hose. So you have the 6 bolt swap in your car but with a 2g head and 1 G thermostat housing?

Yeah sorry it's the 1g thermo housing with a 1g thermo sensor.

FYI, a 1g thermostat housing will not bolt up to a 2g head, nor will a 2g thermostat housing bolt onto a 1g head. He has to be talking about the thermostat itself.

OP, if the lines are too short, its called.... going to the parts store, and buying more hose.

So i'll just give the long story...

I bought a 7 bolt 1g long block from a buddy, but i had a 2g rebuild head from another buddy of mine. I took the thermo housing and all off the long block 1g and it seems to bolt up just fine to my 2g head...

So just buy a longer hose? What do i do about the wiring? 2gs have one thermo connector i believe, and 1g has 4?

Do you know what years? Just curious because I was under the impression that the bolt pattern was slightly different.

EDIT: I'll eat my words. I was wrong. The sealing flanges are slightly different, but the bolt spacing is the same.

Anyway wiring? I have a 95 wiring harness i wanna hook up to it. Any thoughts?

Its a 1g thermo housing on a 2g head. Measure the distance from hole to hole. It works bruh.

Take your Ac switch, fan plug and coolant temp sensor plugs off a 2g and put them on the 1g.
