Hey all-

I was wondering if I could get some advice on my safc tuning. I recently just resurrected my dsm from storage (after 7 years) now that I have a garage, woot! After catching up on the dsm scene, and trying to pass smog on the visual, i've been making a few changes. The main problem with my tuning is I feel like a huge loss of power since I restored my MAS with the honeycombs. Granted my settings were completely off, and I think I've got the low throttle settings retweaked. Mainly having issues with the high throttle stuff. I'm a bit rusty, but it looks like my timing is way too high on some of the higher pulls. The mods i have installed are:

super 16g @ 18, 550 rc injectors, walbro 255, afpr, custom 3in dp, new cat, new o2 sensors, profecb, stock airbox and 1g bov (for smog... usually run k&n and greddy type s). I think that's it for mods related to tuning...

here's a csv of my recent log

Thanks! :sneaky:

Put the SAFC to -10 in the high throttle corrections to start off tuning, it will give you a base line. Do a few pulls and as the RPM increases look at your AF ratios as much as possible without taking your eyes off the road, gotta keep it safe here LOL. Anyway, decrease the high throttle values until you reach a 10.5-11:1 AF ratio. If you don't have a Wideband I recommend getting one, also run the aftermarket intake, it'll help quite a bit.

If you have any sort of setting on the SAFC already just let me know what they are, the loss of power is from running too rich if you haven't tuned the car to run the new injectors.

oops forgot to mention i have an apexi fmic.

2k: -8
3k: -10
4k: -14
4.5k: -14

6k: -20
7k: -20

high:
1k: -26

hey thanks for the quick reply!

Yea, i just ordered a wideband.. I am running a normal a/f gauge and egt tapped on the 2nd port... old skool style. What's weird is my EGTs are pretty damn high, which would mean i'm running lean though right?

Yes, you're running lean. I don't know why you would have a power drop, check your compression, you may have damaged something. Its really the only thing I can think of right now that would explain the power loss.

Damn tuning sounds complicated :(

Naw, it tends to sound a lot more complicated than it really is. You just have to take it slow while you learn how to do it, after that, its cake.

Sweet, no videos or post maybe i can read up on to understand tuning?

What are you planing to tune on? Every device is a bit different, there's all sorts of things you can find on DSMtuners on how to tune using different devices. Just look up "how to tune on [blank]" and go from there, also if you have any questions while tuning a lot of members would be more than happy to help.

thanks a lot. Im planning on soon getting V3 LITE.

So I finally got around to doin another run... can anyone give me some advice? It still seems like my timing isn't high enough at WOT,and running rich (o2 voltage) - and my timing is kind of high when at low throttle areas. Should I take down my safc settings on hithrottle even farther? This run was a 3rd gear pull from 3k to 7k. Thanks

I wouldn't depend too much on the O2 voltage to be honest bro, I'd get an AEM UEGO or an LC-1, that way you are 100% sure what the AF is.
