ive been having mad problems with my car lately from head to tranny n a shit load of other things. my tranny is starting to go, 2nd gear grinds every time and jumps in its place. i have about 1.2k to spend on my tranny right now, and i dont wana do a OEM rebuild because i wana b putting out around 430hp soon and i wana do it safely.
my question to u guys is even though i dont have the money to spend on a stage 3 shep trans, is it worth getting like a stage 2 dog box or something along those lines? or just do an OEM rebuild at one of the local shops?

I have posted many times before about my transmissions built by dogbox racing, I feel like I should do a review on it after a couple track runs.

I have the stage 2 build from dogbox racing with upgrade 3-4 and 4 spider diff, check my profile.

When I spoke to Dom at dogbox, we discussed my power goals and what I wanted to achieve with my vehicle, I told him it was a DD and working toward 350 right now. I know that the stage 1 would have been enough for that power goal but the stage 2 would allow me to grow. Dom suggested the upgrade 3-4 so that in the future if I did make more power, I wouldn't need a new trans or a rebuild on it. Also its some peace of mind when I am pushing my car. Doms a good guy and he will definitely take the time to find out your goals, he also makes great suggestions. He also kept me updated on my build, what parts were needed, where he was int he process, if anything else went wrong etc.

I have put at least 2000 miles on the car since the rebuild, with a South Bend TZ Kit: HD Stage 2, and fidanza flyqheel, and its been great to me. The combination of the stage 2 build and the kevlar disk with stock pressure plate feel is amazing. Great daily driver combo build.

From my experience its worth the stage 2, maybe even the extras (4 spider diff, upgrade 3-4) I also got i during the winter, so the stage 2 with the spider was 1125. Dogbox is running a spring special right now, call them up.

Did you get your gears and other tranny parts shot peened?

When I was looking into transmissions I called Dogbox and asked them about their trannies. They said they don't shot peen anything because they don't think it helps. Right there I was a little skeptical and then decided to go with a TRE stage 3. Jon at TRE knows his sh** so I trust his transmissions.

thanks for your help guys. i think im most likely going to go with Dogbox.
Also does anyone know of a good tuning spot in the tri-state area?

It depends what engine management your running. I know E-Spec is good with EcuFlash and AEM, he might do DsmLink too but im not sure. He is located in Nassau county about 30-40 minutes from BK.

I forgot who I talked to but when I asked if you guys could also put a 4 spider diff in he said that you guys are only doing welded center diffs. This was just over six months ago but I was looking into your stage 3 trans with a 4 spider diff. Not a big deal on the confusion but thanks for clearing that up.
