I found a million threads talking about what torque for the head studs but nothing showing the pattern. I remember seeing it in a thread but cannot find it again and was wondering if anyone has the diagram handy or a link to a pic of the torque pattern.

Torque 30Lbs from the Inside Out.
60Lbs from the Outside In
85Lbs from the Inside Out in a cris-cross pattern
 
They should be torqued like this:

7 5 2 4 10

9 3 1 6 8

Sense when? I've never heard of any one doing this...

Also Most people either go for a larger jump for the last torque sequence or do it in 4 steps..

I've always done it this way without any issues. Just personal insight.
 
by the book the tighting pattern is like this

10 5 2 3 7
9 6 1 4 8
Without a reference to what is front/back ~ right side/left side , That means nothing

Since the OP said Head Studs I figured I'd provide this info...

This is from The BOTTOM of the ARP Head Stud Box

We recommend the use of our Assembly Lubricant Or thread sealer When Tightened dry unplated fasteners used up to 85% of the applied torque simply overcoming the friction between the threads. To insure that all ARP fasteners deliver optimum level of service the installed residual stress is Calculated and verified for your Convenience Use the Chart at right to Precisely Duplicate the Recommended Tightening Specifications.
the chart on the right States that
For a 11mm stud (7 bolt motor) with a Fastener Tensile Strength in (PSI)
OF--------------------------------------W/30 wt. oil------W/moly lube
170,000-180,000----------------------------80----------------63
190,000-200,000----------------------------90----------------71

Now
With a 12mm Stud (6bolt)

IMOA Use the moly lube NOT oil ... Mine came with it (some don't) its only like $5 for the lube if it Didn't
