Ok when i first got the car i drove it home about 70 miles and did good on gas. when changing the sparkplugs and wires i set it to 4.1.2.3. and started getting very bad gas milage. about 12 miles per gallon. Right now i have it set to 1.4.2.3, but i notice a decrease in power but milage is good. My car is a 95talon awd all stock except for a bov (vented). Does anyone know the proper set up for the wires on my vehicle? ps. i tried 1.3.4.2 as one manual said and it wouldnt start.

1.Dont vent your bov on a stock maf unless you like your car to run like shit...
2.Look at the metal bracket on the coilpack with a flashlight and you will see the numbers stamped in the metal.#1 closest plug to the timing belt #4 furthest from the timing belt.
 
First thing is first -- you need to recirculate your BOV. This could very well be the cause of your bad gas mileage as you are letting metered air (air that the ECU has calculated fuel delivery for) escape.

The correct firing order is 4-1-2-3, but 1-4-3-2 should work as well because coils 1 and 4 fire together (and therefore wiring positions are interchangeable with each other) and coils 2 and 3 fire together (again, interchangeable).

Although I grasp what these guys are saying, it's not firing order you are looking for it is wiring order. As stated the number one is closest to timing and four is farthest. Order should be 4123. And definitely need to recirc your BOV if your not running a maft on the intercooler piping.
