Hey
Just picked up a new 6 bolt block and was wondering what car it is out of, and what year .

I searched around and came up with nothing. The block has F3 casted into it where the normal 7AT3 or 7T3 and no place for a knock sensor.

Thanks,
Lee

just want to know what it came out of. mostly because the guy who sold it to me told me that it was a 4g63t but seeing as there is no bung for the knock sensor, and the different casting marks im pretty sure the guy was full of it, or he just didn't know. Im just sick of ppl that do that. And i want to know for my own curiosity.
thanks.

post a pic of the block it should look like this

The block should have a VIN stamped on it somewhere unless it has been shaved. Service manuals show that these are either the transmission side, just below the head and towards the rear past the freeze plug; or on a flat surface on the back side of the block, towards the transmission side of the intake manifold stay. See the picture of the location below. Use that number to determine where the block came from. This would be the easiest way to find out. Decoding VINs

You can also pull the pan and check for oil jets (squirters). Since the provision for a knock sensor has not been machined, it would make sense that there won't be oil jets either. If that is the case, you have a non-turbo block though it does not necessarily tell you where the engine came from.

cookmeup272. Not to sure what you are getting at.

moronthr33 . I know what kind of engine it is, It is a 4g63 for sure, now weather it was a turbo or n/a and what car it came out of.

whe3ls. It does look exactly like that.

19Eclipse90. I looked at those flat places for the stampings but was not able to see any. It does not looked as if it has been shaved either. I will give it another look tonight.

Thanks a lot for all the help guys. appreciate it.
